I'm still new to the Melvins universe so I don't know a lot about the multiple sid projects these guys have had but which one do you feel is the best??

anaconda

Altamont is good chicken fried greasy haired southern groove/boogie stuff,
Men of Porn is loud crunchy lunkheaded rock with hard to decipher lyrics. Both are great.

Dr. Gonzo

Best one = Fantomas, then Venemous Concept, then men of porn....

Can't comment on Altamont, haven't listened enough.

lemmeseethatrectum

well its tough.  do we concider the crybaby a side project as it isnt really the melvins.  if so id say thats up there with fantomas and venemous concept.

What are the solo albums like?

FartLips

i'll say venomous concept and then men of porn.
Judy is mad.🤣

Ron Maiden

Fantomas is my favorite live band , then Flaming Lips. The Jesus Lizard were the best ever.

Green Honey

Teenage Larvae - inigualado!

Then there's Tomahawk - phrrt

GrimReaper

Altamont is a great band. I don't even consider it a side project.

I am going to travel all the way to SF tomorrow to see Dale front Altamont and then get behing the drums for Men of Porn.

Altamont opened for the Melvins and it was incredable.

I only have the Buzz and Dale albums, but I would say this about them:
Buzz solo album:
features Dale Nixon (Dave Grohl) on drums so that's cool. Two of the songs rock hard, one is sort of a looping track that just sort of builds up to nothing, but is still decent and one track is a quieter, bit creepy track.

Dale solo album:
I was thrown off when I saw that Dale played guitar on this one (along with drums of course), but he actually has some cool riffs and not bad vocals. The only problem is that it is so damn short (only about 12 minutes long). It is a solid four songs though. No drum solo, which kinda sucks).

Can anyone break down the Joe EP for me?

Hey watch it, that kind of statement might get you killed around here.

I'm sure that everyone here already has these, but I'm putting up
two tracks off the Joe Preston solo album this week. I would've put up
all 3 songs but the other one is a kid whining for their mommy over a
scratchy salsa record. Nothing too spectacular.

So anyways, without further ado, here are the songs 'Bricklebrit', and 'Hands First Flower':

In regard to Dave Grohl, eventhough he'll do anything for a dollar, including writing wimpy music and getting in front of the camera any chance he can, he's still one of the best rock drummers around.
