I consider Honky a blueprint for The Bootlicker and The Maggot.

I never really thought of that but you're absolutely right.

heavy as all hell: mombius, butterly (maggot)  -  mellow:grin, slaughtered (bootlicker)
noisey: lucifer, morpheus (COD)

Grin even has the tempo of Let It All Be. You could perfectly lay down the Let It All Be drumbeat under that song, even Buzz's vocals on both songs match perfectly.

I think Honky is the Melvins' best album. It's like they took from their other music what made them so unique, experimental, interesting, and put it on an album by itself. E.g their other albums are beer and this is vodka

Honky is a total masterpiece. Especially the song Air Breather Deep in the Arms of Morpheus. That song is rarely mentioned but I think it's one of the Melvins finest.

no way is honky genius.  Honky is the experimental album, a testing of the experimental waters.  Honky makes Lily cry tears of sadness!

Seriously, Honky is a splendid Album, not for the masses, but definately an album that challenges you. Arrogant and not very accessible, just like we want The Melvins to be.
In The Freaktose is my favourite, although it`s the most accessible perhaps.
