...listening to (a)sa thinking about how amazing it is really has blown me away. Wondering who i can get to listen to this album and who would genuinly like it, when i realised i have more melvins albums than i do friends.
Im not generally liked i must admit, but still i think this is brilliant is this just for me or anyone else? Or is it possible to have more friends than melvins albums there are a lot.

TGH

My friends are convinced that Wolfmother rocks harder than the Melvins. :(
This isn't a time for lectures!

Vcavallo

i have way more melvins albums than friends.

who needs friends when you have the melvins?

I used to try to turn friends on to what I'm listening to whether it's Melvins, some avant jazz, or some obscure '80s punk/metal band, and quit that awhile ago. It's like you're showing them a foreign language, they just don't get it and it's frustrates you. Or they pretend to like it, but later on you see they still have only the same bad CDs in their collection and don't bring up any of the good bands up in a music conversation.

It's probably selfish, but I like to keep the Melvins to myself anyway. I have friends who are so called metal/punk fans and besides the Melvins, couldn't name one Clutch, Fugazi, or Bad Brains song either.

haha I'm selfish like that too, I don't share them around either, even to this
day I like to think of them as my little secret, even though they're blowing up
and (to their complete disconcern) potentially going to get  some  well deserved,
wider recognition with this sonic beauty known as (A)SA, They've extended the
shelf life of the brand by doing this..wise, shrewd

each song references sounds and refines elements we've seen spread out over
their vast catalog, things like using the bloated pope as reference on  #2, and
re-conceiving a whole new song based on the night goat bassline, hand of the laughing
man bass structure, etc.

I was able to convert 3 people at my work to melvins fans.  One mostly through the jello connection (but ya gotta get em anyway ya can).  They all loved the portland show on this current tour and couldn't believe the power of double drummers live.

i've turned a couple friends. it's all worth when you go out for a ride with them or something, and they throw a melvins album on in the car without the usual cajoling.

Hands down the most baffling notion I've heard all week.

That band should be killed.

I have about 3 real friends.... what good are friends when you listen to, and play music anyway?

Well, they can be handy to fill out the crowd when you play gigs. That's the only use i can come up with.

Or when you want to grab a beer somewhere, or watch a movie with some company, or when you go on vacation, or when you go visiting festivals, when you just want to hang out, when you need advice, etc. etc. I think that was really it.
