Im with Shatz...the 45 is the best. I always thought they were different recordings until I read on here that Buzz just re-tracked the bass line for Houdini and it was re-mixed. (I then played them both on 2 turntables at the same time to confirm this!)I like Joe's tone, its all dirt where as on Houdini they mixed the distortion track and the clean track side by side...and there's too much clean bass if you ask me. I also think the overall mix on the 45 was better.

Love this slower version, the Patton stuff (except for those damn Indian calls ), dual guitars...
Twas my cell phone ring tone for months.

I respect the reasons for lack of undying love for their version of night goat, but I'd have a hard time understanding the lack of love for this near perfect version.
