It's probably on semi-permanent retirement, the headstock was broken so many times it couldn't be repaired anymore I don't think it had the High E string or machine head as of 1999-2000, it only had 5 strings at that point. A real basket case, the other thing is the way that thing got sweat on...any hardware would be rotten the moment you stop playing it, to the point where it's depreciated so much that it would probably be constant work to keep it going, that kind of repair work adds up and it was probably cheaper in the long run to get a replacement guitar instead.


...and, I feel sorry for it because Buzz beat the living hell out of it every night for probably over a decade.

They also played smaller intimate venues on that tour.  I was living in Spokane and they played the bar that I hung out at all the time, my band played there often and we even practiced upstairs for a time.  I remember getting home from work one day and checking the answering machine (remember those?!?!?) and the main promoter in town left me a message that he booked the Melvins at Ichabod's.  I started freaking out but then he says that he was going to try and get my band on the show but they asked for no local openers.  The promoter had a bad case of epilepsy and about a month or so before the show he had a seizure and fell and hit his head on the sidewalk so when the day of the show came up he was still moving a little slow and asked me to help him go shopping for their rider list.  Barely remember what was on it.  Also got to talk to Kevin for a long while but barely remember what we talked about except that I nerded out a little that they had Kevin from Brutal Truth on The Crybaby.  One of my favorite shows...

Crazy to think the Kevin era was the only era that didn't have any music videos, well excluding the earlier years anyway.  The Cows had awesome music videos.

Accurate.  There's a quote somewhere from Les Claypool about him being really bummed in 1999 that Lacquer Head was banned from Mtv after they spent all this money and time on it.  It's why there were no videos on A.S.N.T.T.A.L.P. or any of his solo albums until about 2007 with Phantom Patriot.
