Classic Records is an audiophile label that reissues a lot of classic rock (The Who, Led Zep, etc) on one sided LPs. They also tend to split hairs and issue the same remastered recordings in 33rpm and 45 rpm  ](*,) I guess for people who need to hear the difference or whatever.

I wouldn't be surprised if (a)SA gets released as single sided LPs with an etching on the other side. This would defeat the "audiophile" nature of these particular one sided LPs, which I would doubt concern the Melvins to this infinitesimal degree . An etching on the other side would also raise the price.

...yes, they are supposed to be etched at the b-sides

you people are confusing the shit out of me.
I'm with ya on that.  I don't understand what the fuck they're talking about.  I'll just buy the damn thing.

Gas huffer released comic books with every release up to The Rest of Us.  Most had the lyrics illustrated,  others were just art work.

It was a nice touch. Some of the band members were illustraters. Gas Huffer band members all contributed to the artwork.  Bone's has a job now with Rolling Stone Magazine.

Back to the Melvins. I wonder if the Melvins will have thier lyrics illustrated, or will the comic be some other art?

Illustrating the lyrics would mean an explaination to the meaning of the songs. This would be a first for the Melvins.

I'm very excited.

I'm also excited about the one sided LP.  I've never seen etched artwork on the blank side. Does any one have an example.

I remember Johnny Winter's second album had three sides. This confused the hell out of my cousin.

QuoteThe words that the Talking Horse are speaking are what I have deciphered as some of the lyrics to songs from the album. Though, forgive me if some of them aren't completely accurate- I couldn't get the lyrics from Buzz because he said they were never "typed out." So, they are what I think I heard in some of the songs. The character who pulls the horse's head off is supposed to be the Blood Witch (track 2 of the album). And in the last couple of panels of page 6, you can see The Civilized Worm (track 3), an armless legless man creeping into the picture.

So he's saying ASA is a concept album?

Everything was beautiful, and nothing hurt.

Centripetal core of soul sojourn the field vibrates to absolution. I climb toward the sun to breathe the universal.

Have you seen the bridge?  I ain't seen the bridge!  Where's that confounded bridge?!

Then sometime in August will be the actual release of the Melvins box set that includes the comic book.

That's f_ckin great! Almost reminds me of Clowes somewhat.

Although I don't understand why Coady is on 3rd guitar????

I am the Sun

so is the comic book only going to be included in the boxed set?

(PAUL)

Nope, Hydrahead says that you can buy it separate. It sounds like there's two box sets, one for A Senile Animal and the other one with all their stuff from Ipecac. Good thing my stimulus check just got here.

LIKE CHOCOLATE AND PEANUT BUTTER: TOM NEELY vs THE MELVINS

From HH blogs

we've been hollerin' about this melvins "(a) senile animal" project for a while, but it's really, finally, truly nearing completion. above are some images of the "your disease spread quick" comic, inspired by the music of the melvins, written and drawn by tom neely , published by robotic boot (a subdivision of hydra head industries). the comic is making its debut at tom neely's table at san diego comic con this weekend, as well as on the merch table on the current melvins/big business tour. in the next 2-3 weeks it will also be available as part of "(a) senile animal" box set, which will also include a 4 x LP vinyl version of the album of the same name and a fancy-schmancy melvins belt buckle. this shit is gonna be amazing - which sort of goes without saying since it involves the unholy trinity of hydra head, the melvins, and tom neely. we'll be doing some sort of party for the release of the box set with our friends in LA at the highly esteemed secret headquarters comic shop. more details on that and the exact release of the box set soon. the 4 x LP, belt buckle, and comic book will be available individually through the HHR webstore (and select retail outlets) for those of you that somehow mistakenly believe you don't need the super-deluxe-totally-fucking-awesome box set.
