I don't see people going to lollapalooza and then leaving before Sonic Youth. Also, I'm amazed Courtney Love actually knows how to read or write.

i went to that Lollapalooza... it was 1995, and sadly, many did leave after Hole, which was the worst shit imaginable at that point (i even liked the first Hole album) and before Sonic Youth. lots of them. which was fine, because it allowed everyone else to run down to the front and as Courtney says, allowed Sonic Youth to hopefully get paid really really well even though a lot of the crowd left before they played.

I too attended that lollapalooza.  by that time alternative was mainstream.   but SY was still alternative.  all the "frat" types (which was about 40% of the audience) were there to claim their punkdom but were still alienated to fuck by the feedback rich SY.  so they bolted after hole, the MTV sweethearts.   not to mention they were completely drained by hours of drinking and pot smoking and ready to pass out on the car ride home.   a common problem for many main acts @ lollapalooza over the years.  either that or the LSD was wearing off and a miserable exhausted reality was taking back over.

i remember that lolla as well. unfortunately, i was subjected to one of her strip teases too. that would make a lot of people leave as well. gah!

Agreed, people were leaving for sure.  However, to debunk that mess named Courtney Love, she had NOTHING to do with getting SY on that bill.  In fact, Thurston curated that year and got many of the bands on the bill himself.  And to hear her first husband, Falling James of the Leaving Trains tell stories, Courtney has ALWAYS been out of her mind insane, way before Kurt.

Where are you hearing these stories from Falling James?
Some how James Moreland and the Leaving Trains have been erased from music history. Sometimes I wonder if C. Love has anything to do with it.

There was a Falling James interview in Flipside in '92 or '93 (one of many probably) where he talked extensively about his brief marriage to Courtney and how she was always looking to get a leg up and wanted to marry the next big thing so that she could ride along and launch herself (I don't know how anyone could have thought that Leaving Trains were gonna be the next big thing though).  I have it in the basement in a box somewhere.  What a godawful band with a few moments of goodness.

Like a week later he was murdered...Courtney kille, or had kurt killed.. Its impossible to have as much dope as kurt had in his system to function..
