I'm a little disappointed, only in the fact that much, if not all of it is from "The Giving Brain" EP.  That is a one-sided 12" and a CDr with 3 hours of stuff.  I'm not sure if these are edited versions, or newly re-recorded.  On the EP and CDr, they are 20:00 songs.  Don't get me wrong.  I love it, but already have that release.  It was limited to #200 (but Kevin told me that they only really pressed up 100 and gave up on it).  I think the Follow Me LP plays much better with the shorter versions. But it's nice to have both.  Jesus Children America is not credited on The Giving Brain, but sounds very familiar to me.  It may be part of another longer track.  I would give the wreckord 9/10, but to see them live is 10/10!!

Yeah, these are cleaned up and newly recorded version of these songs, both giving brain parts are fantastic, but this is just a little tighter.
I got the shits real bad.

Haze is in agreement with you.  He said he thought it was newly recorded with the new line-up and Toshi working his magic!  Like I said, it plays much better than the epic GB release.  If you didn't get a copy of the LP, I can highly recommend the $8 download on Bandcamp.

This from Sterling Riley (Hepa/Titus):

Follow me is recorded with toshi. The giving brain volume 1 is me and Kevin. No drums on the songs. Our friend Dana young surrounded the music with his electronic music. On each 20 min song there is a song with me and Kevin playing surrounded by Dana's electronics. Totally different versions. No drums and a bit more experimental. Follow menus more rock

I got to warn you, the LP is a noisy play.  It has pressing issues (and not just the fine sand that sometimes comes with the wreckords from this plant).  I got two copies.  One for me and one for a friend.  Nothing that overwhelms the music, but lots of crackles on both.  There are some fine quieter moments in the musick where the crackles will catch your attention.  It's a beautiful wreckord, but perhaps its time for AMREP to find another pressing plant?! I will have to say that this really isn't the case with Bulls & Bees, or 1983 however.  I believe that the Sugar Daddy Splits come from another plant.  I've never had any problem with those.  I also have to say that I'm super fussy and have a very nice deck with a good cartridge as well. So make up your own minds...

Mine played fine without any noise. (Using a technics 1200 with a shure cartridge into a vestax mixer plugged directly into two event powered studio monitors)

Perhaps the discs were still a bit damp from cleaning last night.  I put my cork/composite mat on the deck this morning and gave it another spin.  It played much better.  That fine sand in the inners freaks me out. Yikes!!  It could've been the power of suggestion there.  Like I said, I'm super fussy. Most people might not notice.  What was your impression of the musick??

I like the album a lot. Like anything that I think that's worth listening to, it's complex so it needs a few more listens before I can really digest it. Freak Puke was the same way for me. I liked it the first time I heard it but it took 3-4 listens for me to really appreciate everything that was going on and to take it all in. I seldom every buy Mp3s so this was the first time I could really hear them. Dust or not, you know the wax itself is beautiful! I'd like to see a cool indi label like learning curve or someone pick them up at some point. I'm really glad they did this release at AmRep, feel really fortunate to have a copy.

I want to start a topic on this, because there's some Melvins merch I'm hungry for.  And I know there some hardcore collectors out there searching for things they may have two of, and want to trade.  I know ebay has tons of shit, but I like to keep it in the family,  so to speak.  Here's my list, of wanted items:

In no particular order.

The Oct 18, 2007 Kollective Fusion poster.  The Waldo poster.

Melvins paperweight

Melvins 8 track

Melvins skate decks ( both )

Mid 80's-mid 90's t-shirts.  Preferably XL.

There's lots of vinyl I want.  I'm not going to list it all.  If you have something you don't want, or are willing to get rid of, let me know!

If your looking to trade or sell, post it!

Also, another heads-up;  Amoeba Records in L.A. have a copy of (a) Senile Animal on blue wax for $80.  This won't last at that price.  Not sure if it's available on amoeba.com (free shipping) or not...

This nice copy just has to go to one of the BBS!  The question is who's going to nab it??  http://www.ebay.com/itm/Melvins-Lysol-LP-First-Press-w-blocked-out-title-VG-Fantomas-Unsane-/290857231095?pt=Music_on_Vinyl&hash=item43b87122f7

BTW, I have been very successful in making offers to eBay sellers (for items I really want) before the auction goes too far along...  Make him a reasonable offer!!  Disclaimer:  I have no idea who this seller is, but he has 100% positive feedback.

What do you think "reasonable" is for this?

How much do you want it?  Make it sweet!  It's a good copy.  You won't find many like this.  I wouldn't sell mine for anything, though I would certainly trade for a NM copy without the tape.  But who's going to do that??!!  The tape happened very quickly. I bought mine when it first came out and it had the tape.  It's still a NM copy and Im the sole owner.
