mp3s will always sound worse than the cd because it takes information from the track and gets rid of it to conserve space.

...but there is a lot of redundant information on CDs. At a high enough bit rate MP3s are hopefully really only getting of that redundant information. Personally, I can hear differences even at 192 kbs. I suppose the encoder that's used matters too. As does the source (original CD, CD burned from mp3s,  or LP).

You also have to figure in the limits of what system you're playing the music on.   On the headphones I use for walking around listening to my iPod, it won't matter at all, everything sounds weak.

i got my copy in the mail saturday (preordered from Interpunk. got 3 melvins buttons as an added bonus). i'm glad i managed to hold out and not download this. it's such a shame when great albums are ruined by low quality leaks. and make no mistake, that's what we have here. a great album. those who wish the Big Biz dudes would go away really need to take a step back and assess what's happening here. The Melvins are a ROCK band again. Big Business has breathed new life into a beast that, in all honesty, i wrote off as dying and/or already dead. these last 2 albums are so great they almost make me to forget about the band's previous abominations on Ipecac. almost.

i really dont want to ruffle any feathers here but i find the trilogy to be thoroughly awful and HAT unfit for even a beer coaster. i mean, it's cool if you don't agree, but let's just be honest with where we're coming from.

Here's my 'It Tastes Better Than The Truth' appreciation post.  God, I love that tune.

It's cool to see how it developed.

Terrorizer interviewer?

have you heard the Maggot???  HAHAHAHAHA boy you are stupid.  HAT?  fucking troll...

el_Raderino

you guys do realize that there are people out there that, in a surprising display of freethought, do not blindly accept everything and anything this band records...right? hopefully i'm not coming at you out of left field here.

well, you know, one man's trash etc etc...

Idlehanz

I understand that.  I don't blindly accept it all either.  I do just happen to like and or love all of it.  I have no problem with somene not liking HAT or the Trilogy, I just find it surprising.

Idlehanz

It Tastes reminds me very much of a Big Biz style of song.

I'm a huge fan of HAT, Maggot and Bootlicker myself (Crybaby partly), and I can't understand how someone would call them awful. It's beyond me. And it's not because I blindly accept everything they do, it's because I simply think these albums are great. I like how the Bootlicker is completely different from the Maggot. I love the bass sound. And I wouldn't call HAT a masterpiece if I didn't think so. Besides, I also really like NWB. It's all a matter of taste.

Nevertheless I wouldn't call you stupid for not liking these albums. It's just an opinion.

True. Besides, you can almost only hear Coady and Jared singing, or rather screaming. It would be nice to at least hear Buzz somewhere in there.
