Here's the shitty part.  Return flight travel time.  26 hours. That includes a 14 hour layover!  It's at the Amsterdam-Schiphol airport though.  That's gotta be close to something fun.  Or if nothing else, I can fulfill my dream of sleeping and slobbering on an airport floor.

Wow! What does that mean? You have to wait at the airport for 14 hours? Do you have to stay behind the security gates? Man, that sucks. Sure there are some overpriced bars there but you can't even have a smoke in there anymore. Do you even smoke? Ok, maybe it doesn't matter.

Well your visa into England should cover you going into the dam for a smoke because it is all part of the European union and at the airport you should be able to just ask for a 24 hour visa which would let you wonder round for a bit, worked for me in Honk Kong.

Maybe wait to see or email ipecac about if The Melvin's are doing a show in London because you could do what Maartin done a few years ago and go from Minehead to watch them again and the get a flight back direct from London that might make it a bit cheaper.
