Who are?

(A)SA
NWB

They've both grown on me considerably since creating a thread to bitch about being unsatisfied with them ;)

I prefer ASA cause it seems to flow better.

I just listened to ASA recently... I must say I like it more than I ever have. right now its ASA for me... bloodwitch is an amazing track.
And I really like the opening song too. alot. Its sucha weird song and truly different from any other melvins song. WTF is that bass line? never heard anything like it.

molotov

NWB is better. Because more different.

NWB - quintessence of Melvins.

The Hawk and Civilized Worm are songs that Nude With Boots cannot top
I won't dispute your opinion, but wait till you see Dog Island live.  Seriously.  I never shared Glens enthusiasm for this song ( sorry, but it's true bud ), but after hearing it live, I hope it stays in the setlist for a while.  Dog Island is the Civilized Worm of NWB's.

I have been all about Dog Island since the start, I know where your coming from because when your listening to the c.d. you just know that song is 10x better live. Thats the song Im looking forward to hearing live.

I would really look forward to seeing the Melvins live, but they are not coming near enough. They haven't been to Louisville since 2002. I'd see them again if they were coming to Indianapolis though.

I always knew that more people would warm up to NWB after seeing the songs performed live. I can't say definitively that ASA is better than NWB. It's just an opinion I hold for right now.

MeddlingCrybaby

ASA is better than NWB.  The emperor has no clothes.  Admit the truth.

nude with boots is really making me re-appreciate a senile animal.

Same. I just blew the dust offf those MP3s and like it more this time around.

I liked NWB instantly but it took a bit for ASA to sink in

rhett E rock

i must say this is almost impossible for me.  A civilzed worm and blood with though.  not to mention way more drum solos.  i think i'm going with (A)SA here.

Upon comparing the live songs vs each other...............

     I just don't know.

Of course the newest release is going to garner most of my attention.  Dog Island live is so much more than the album version.  As far as heaviness I mean.  Then again, History of Bad Men is fucking insanely heavy.  Nude With Boots and The Kicking Machine have been dismissed by some as too poppy and not Melvins worthy.  Hearing them live is what I imagine a concert where Thin Lizzy buttfucked T. Rex and Buzz wrote the lyrics was like.  Civilized Worm is a nice chunk of frosting.  Much like Billy Fish is.  It's catchy, it's beautiful, and it's instant.  Dies is not comparable.  It's a great two minute departure from ASA and NWB's.  Live, it made everyone take a breath and just LISTEN.  Heavy, bowel rumbling, and quietly insane.  The ASA trilogy are meant to just beat your head against the poor fucker in front of you, and SIP is there to remind you that good musicianship and headbanging and slow, quiet Cooperesque vocals can go hand in hand.

Your choices surprise me!

Leroy

There is a song on NWB that sounds a lot like the Jello Biafra/Melvins stuff.
