2 interesting details:
Let's hope everyone shows up with two lives to expend on June 26, when Melvins return to the High Noon for two sets. As of now, it's looking like younger but pretty much equally awesome duo Big Business
2 sets like, buzz and dale alone and then with the biz, or , more likely, 2 full band sets?

why didnt i think of the obvious? oh yeah. because i want to believe :D
you're probably right about the duo, althought i was hoping for something more among the lines of... a regular set followed by EGGNOG, for example.

I remember this being the case last time they announced dates, there was no MPLS listed, I freaked out, and of course they ended up playing Grumpy's...so I'm just going to try and not freak out and impatiently wait for a Grumpy's announcement.
Great! I wonder if the new album will be out before the tour. Is anyone else going to the Athens GA show?
Madison ain't that far and it's a Saturday.
I need to emigrate. Melvins have only played here a handful of times.

Ahhh. :x No Buffalo or Rochester date.
Keep your fingers crossed, they could fit it in on the 22nd, between Boston & Cleveland. If not, might have to do the Grog Shop. Saw them there on Kevin's last tour. Nice club, but the parking sucks there. Wish it was the Agora, Peabody's, or Beachland instead.

I think I'm going to take Amtrak up from Portland, then hit the Seattle show the next night.
I'm debating as to which will be the better NYC show, Webster hall or MHoW. Webster has kinda shitty sound, and Williamsburg has kinda a shitty crowd (at least they did for the NWB show I saw there). I guess I got time to decide, as I can't afford to go to both shows.
Are all the shows on this tour with Isis, cuz NYC sure is.

Calgary is home to about 25 different species of mosquitoes. In addition to controlling mosquitoes within the city limits, the City of Calgary maintains a buffer zone of 5-8 km around the city to prevent mosquitoes from becoming a nuisance to Calgarians.

I don't see Big Business on the announcement for the NYC show, just Isis and Totimoshi. Is BB playing with the Melvins on this tour? Figured they'd be playing on their own for sure with their new album coming out. Not trying to start anything, but I just found this very peculiar.
I noticed that too. I figured that maybe it just goes w/o saying.

I think I would choose Obituary in that case as Melvins will probably be back in your town within less than a year while Obituary you may never see again. Obituary are one of the best most original death metal bands around.

Well, knowing MELVINS are confirmed it is already far better than last year. The year before with Gutter Twins and QUI was pretty fucking great though. Ever been?

i havent! Which is a shame becuase I live decently close to Calgary. I discovered the lineup too late when GT and QUI played and wasn't interested enough last year. But since the Melvins are playing I will, of course, be there this year. You live in Calgary?

Ahhh. :x No Buffalo or Rochester date.
Keep your fingers crossed, they could fit it in on the 22nd, between Boston & Cleveland. If not, might have to do the Grog Shop. Saw them there on Kevin's last tour. Nice club, but the parking sucks there. Wish it was the Agora, Peabody's, or Beachland instead.
yeah, i'm hoping for a closer date myself(as long as it's not at the fucking town ballroom again). i'll probably do cleveland if not. at least i know i wont have problems taping at the grog shop. fuck you town ballroom!
Ever been to the Montage Hall in Rochester? Seeing Clutch there next month. I'm on their mailing list, they sent me an email about the Clutch show. So for shits I emailed them back telling them about the Melvins "open date" and if they could look into bringing them. They responded back quick saying they're very interested and will look into it. Take it for what it's worth. We shall see. I guess it's up to the band in the end. Maybe they want/need the day off.
Small's has their tix for sale now. It says "An Evening with the Melvins"...I know Totimoshi is supposed to be also playing, but that would be amazing if it was just the Melvins. One can wish...

Never been there. that would be sweet if they booked the melvins. and, shit i didn't know clutch was coming. i'll have to look into that. believe or not i haven't seen them.
Edit: Once again no clutch for me. i've got weedeater on the 9th and i'll still be pretty broke after coming back from Amsterdam at the end of march. i can't afford to do both & i've got permission to record audio & video of weedeater. so,....

Isis are ok they just wandered a little after panopticon and never returned but they're one of those bands you'd probably enjoy more live.

even when i did like them i always thought they weren't so great live, aaron always seemed to struggle with his vocals. then they played roadburn in 2008 and i decided to check them out anyway even though i never listened to them anymore. i was surprised how bad the sound was for a band like them. i had the impression that after being on the road with tool and all, their sound would be top notch and the material boring, but it both was.
after them earthless played and the sound was perfect, hmmm...
I gave them their chance live. Still did nothing for me. Again, pretty glad to have the west coast dates the way they are.
I first saw Isis in Syracuse late '04, right after Panopticon came out. They were awesome. 2nd time in Buffalo, a few months before Absence Of Truth came out in '06, not as good, but the opening bands were great - Russian Circles & Dalek. They were honing new material, and had a strict "No Taping" policy that night.
I'm thinking I'll check the setlist first night of the new Melvins tour. If it's all new material, and some H.A.T. finally thrown in the mix, I'll drive to Cleveland.
I am so going to the show in Eugene. It's gonna be my first time I've seen them. Would have gone seem them when they were in Portland on the Down/Weedeater tour, but I live over 200 miles away, and my Portland homeboy was out of town at the time. It's been late for me getting into the Melvins, but I'm glad I finally did! :D

i was at that isis/dalek/zombi/russian circles show - they all kicked soooo much ass. it was my only time seeing isis live but i thought
it was pretty cool. zombi and russian circles def stole the show.
any guesses on the double set?
I'm saying it won't be the old format of buzz & dale doing the classics and then jared and coady joining in set 2 for the newer material.
something exciting and different is in the works.

Yes, yes we are quite spoiled. Though I have to say that I'm so used to going out of my way to see these guys that having to travel only five minutes from my home to see them at the Casbah just isn't enough for me. I will try my best to go up to San Jose to see them but I also want to see them before they come to the Casbah. It's only logical that they would have an LA show as well! Though would they even be able to sell the album on a date before June 1st? Doesn't that make an instore performance kind of questionable? :?
Well, there was no actual NYE show this past time around but they played two nights later! They were also in SF the year before but Fantomas played NYE. They are due for a Seattle NYE headlining gig...Though would it ever happen in Tacoma or Olympia? Have they ever done that? Perhaps it's Portland's turn...

It's looking less and less likely. After as many times as I said I was, it sucks. I'm trying to save up for a house. Sick of renting, and getting nothing back. It's not entirely impossible, but I'm not getting my hopes up.

I think an instore before the album is out is out-of-the-question, because of lost sales, etc.
If anything, Idle should try and go to the amrep fest this year, as its going to be amazing. Melvins + many other

I gotta go to DC too, but the sound is really good at 930 & it's at least 4 times bigger than Ottobar. I'd still rather see 'em at the Ottobar. Not a whole lot of places to blaze though, I'm thinking about making cookies & letting my wife drive.

I love seeing the Melvins at the Ottobar since it's so intimate, but 9:30 definitely has better sound. I saw DEVO there in November and it's a pretty nice venue.
Me and my boyfriend had the same idea about the cookies  I just can't think of a good way to get them into the venue without them getting all nasty. The best part is we're taking the Amtrak in.

Yeah. Exactly :? One of my friends is getting married and having his bachelor party the day of the show. Normally I would say, "well, you fucked up by having it on the day of a Melvins show. I am not going to be there". But his brother(and also one of my longtime friends) is coming home from Afghanistan the day before. So basically I have been guilted hardcore from all my friends to be there seeing he will be going back shortly after for god knows how long. I'm damned if I do and damned if I don't. And I've even tried the "Well, lets go see the Melvins for your bachelor party!" As you can imagine that didn't fly.
This is going to be the first time in a very long time that I have missed a Michigan show. I really, really,
really hope they come through again after they do their European tour, but I am not holding my breath. Fuck.
