Quote from: Reverend EbeneezerAnd yeah, the real gem on Eggnog's CHARMICARMICAT...up there with Boris and Roman Bird Dog as the band's heaviest work.

I agree with that completely, although I'd add maybe a couple of tracks from Honky.  :)

Quote from: Chief Ten BeersEggnog might be the greatest rock EP of all time. It goes by too fast though. Anyone notice about 1:20 into Charmicarmicat it sounds like the CD skips for a second. Maybe it's a tape splice, weird.
same thing with with teeth at the 5 sec. mark.

Herr Honky

Fuck yes!  Out of the older material Eggnog stands out the most in my opinion, despite it's short playing time. The whole thing has a complete schizo atmosphere. Fav track has to be Hog Leg, the middle part that just builds and builds and comes crashing back down fucking amazes me every time I listen to it. Definitely one of the best Melvins tracks.

I think I listen to this little gem every day, along with The Bootlicker

On Becks very first album, not even officially a release, Golden Feelings, there are samples from the same religious TV or radio show that the Melvins sampled from for use on the Eggnog record. I guess it's not surprising as they were probably both kicking around the Northwest around the same time. Or had the Melvins moved to CA by the time they made Eggnog? Oh well, the sample could've been made earlier.
Isn't it weird that with the internet, finding a sample of a certain TV or radio show doesn't seem like a big deal... there's so much media available to us now. Before, you actually had to go to some trouble to capture things like samples of religious TV shows and old bums singing in the street (in the case of Beck)

are we certain that beck didnt just sample the melvins sample of the preacher?
he sampled the melvins for the guitar feedback in beercan, so maybe.....

Reverend Ebeneezer

Wasn't there someone a while ago on here who actually found out that the preaching on Eggnog's from some spoken word album? I'm sure I remember a link to Amazon of all places which had the record for sale. Can't remember any names though, sorry.

he also sampled the drum outro from cow on soul sucking jerk.
wasn't beck supposed to do a song on crybaby?
Again,a gorgeous tragedy approaches,in the wake of those thought contained. But sonic reverberations shake the very marrow of the fragile chamber of mans lifeforce, and again the minions quiver in fear,as daylight fails to come, and Melvins walk the battlefield, bored and hungry...

That preacher is most definately Pat Robertson. One of the most evil people on Earth. This is the guy who said that 9/11 happened because there are too many homosexuals in NYC. He's said a lot of stupid shit like that, he's famous for it.

He's got a TV show called the 700 Club. I don't have cable, so I don't know what channel it's on. He ran for president once. G.W. Bush has turned to him for spiritual guidance in the past. His group and others like him are the ones who lobby for censorship, who think Howard Stern is the devil and abortion should be illegal in ALL circumstances.

That guy is a millionaire from preaching bullshit to people on his TV show. He'll sit and feed a bunch of shit about how it's evil
