I don't know the whole story, but that is a well known painting. I've seen several versions of it in antique shops, even on a belt buckle once before. I've seen minor variations too, so I don't know if it's one painting that has been copied by others, or if it's depicting a specific individual or story.

I like Kozik's Melvins album artwork the best.

I think its just an old kitsch picture like crying child or gypsy girl

but it sure does fit the music!
when you hear the opening and the album sleeve you get kinda "woozy".

I did some "research" (I.E. checked google) and found that THIS... is the cover of The Beach Boys's "Surf's Up." Awesome painting, but not the same.
Isn't there a statue of this outside the Chicago Institute of Art?

right this second as i've just bought it (why its taken me so long i don't know) and i'm pretty stoned, it is one of the most amazing cds i have ever heard. Seriously if you don't own it it should be your next purchase without delay.

I love Lysol. I only recently purchased it though.

I lent it to a mate for a couple of weeks, letting him know how amazing it was. I was a terrible couple of weeks waiting to get my hands on it again, especially when I had that 'I need to listen to Lysol today' urge.

Then he had the nerve to say he didn't think it was any good when he gave it back to me.

That's the closest he's even been to getting punched in the face off me!

Probably my desert island Melvins disc. Nothing has ever been that heavy, not before, not since. Not Electric Wizard, not Sleep, not (insert heavy band here). Zip. nada. End of discussion. Period.
Also melvins is gay cuz some of their songs are just noise, i tell you this so you all don't buy albums and find out only one two songs is good on them.

Best Melvins Album. Ever.

Let two Norwegians listen to it yesterday and they thought it was the best Melvins album they had ever heard. It still impresses.

The cover art is a painting by Cyrus Edwin Dallin (1861-1944)   Springville, Utah

It's one of many he painted based on a bronze statue he cast called "Appeal to the Great Spirit"
