I will occasionally borrow some of my CDs to my 50 year old father (I'm 19, like anyone cares) for his commute to work and back so he can jam to something other than inane radio early morning talk shows, so earlier today I gave him (A) Senile Animal so he could do just that.

I was out raking leaves as he drove in the garage with "The Hawk" just CRANKED!!!

I couldn't beleive it either.  I mean, he does like some heavy stuff (he really likes AC/DC and Metallica, and I mean early, "Ride The Lightning" style Metallica, not just the "Enter Sandman" type stuff), but I wasn't sure if he'd dig the Melvins or not.

But the new album is very accessable that way.  I know that if I gave him Houdini or Stoner Witch, he'd probably dig the first half, than say it got too weird.

And if I gave him Bullhead, I really don't think he'd make it all the way through Boris.

Although, he did like most of the Maggot (the faster, noise stuff wasn't his cup of tea, even if it did rock my world).

I found it VERY close to HAT. Don't know about the double drums though...Dale suited the sound fine....It took a while to get into, but its creeping up my ass more and more each day......REALLY like HAT.....(good thing) ](*,)

seas of luck

Mark Prindle just reviewed it.  http://www.markprindle.com/melvinsa.htm#senile

I still have no idea why that man dislikes Stag.

Vcavallo

nice.  i sent him the album a long time ago when it leaked.  he said he doesn't know how to work computers and he is busy so he couldn't download it.  i'm glad he finally reviewed it...i've been checking for a while

Quote"A Vast Filthy Prison," which toils fruitlessly for almost seven minutes without any sort of crescendo or conclusion.

haha!  no conclusion in a concluding track..good ol melvins.

QuoteIt's going to mighty difficult to top this, Mr. Osborne.

i too am proven wrong every time!

a side note:  this albums seems to have ignited great call for organization on the board.  since when do we have a thread for reviews, a thread for discussion, a thread for lyrics, etc.  we are so tight!
this place used to be a much bigger mess.   i think we have the stellar moderators to thank...  (a joke.  we don't do shit.  except get banned occasionally for posting animal genitalia.  do as i say, not as i do!)
