Wow, that hag me w/o guitar is life changing

I wish they would do this with the Biz boys. Jared's bass tone would be crushing plus the two drums.

July 3rd 2002 at First Avenue in Minneapolis.....HOSTILE AMBIENT TAKEOVER!

I was physically removed from this show because I started jumping up and down with happiness when they started playing YOA. I wasn't drunk, nor was I slamming into people, just jumping. That was when the security staff at First Ave was super shady and looking to fuck with anyone. It sucked. At least it was the last song of the set but being dragged out in a headlock while hearing it was upsetting. Once they got me outside the door guy actually said "Oh hey I want in on this!" so the handed me off to him and I was thrown on the sidewalk in a sleeper hold and was told to just get up and walk away. So I did. Right down to the cop shop on 3rd St and filed a police report. I was told that that shit happens all the time and funny enough a few months later they fired pretty much the entire security staff and hired a new friendlier staff. Fucking assholes. I loved First Ave up until that point. After that I get twitchy when I go there.
Later that night I was talked into robo tripping for the first time. That's a whole other story but that was quite the night!

My first time was 94? They opened for NIN. That day I had bought the Your Choice series cd and my friends and I were listening to it before the show and talking about how awesome it would be to see them. The shows opener was Pop Will Eat Itself for which we were fans of at the time but when we showed up there was Melvins merch. I was so stupid back then, I asked a random security guy if the Melvins were playing, he looks at the merch and looks at me like an idiot and was like "Uh yeah, I guess they are.". Best surprise EVA! believe it or not but the crowed was really good to them too! Haven't missed a tour since.

Mine would've been September 06 at the Fine Line. First Big Melvins tour I think. It was totally excellent. In fact, in a lot of ways I lament how these guys will only play Grumpy's when they're in Minneapolis. I love Grumpy's and the history Haze has with noise rock, but that place isn't really meant to be a venue. A part of me would do backflips if they played the Triple Rock or the Turf Club or something.

I'm totally with you on this one. I would love to see them at the Triple Rock because that place has the best sound and overall set up for an intimate and very loud show. I do love seeing them at Grumpy's though. There's something to be said when your favorite drummers cymbal is literally inches from my face. With that being said, I hate it when they play in the parking lot or if it's an AmRep "Bash". 1. the sound fucking sucks outside 2. If the Melvins are playing then that means we get a shorter set than normal. I think it's cool that they are willing to play first and give extra time to some of the other bands, don't get me wrong I love the Bash's but I wish they would at least play somewhere else too so we get a whole set. When they first started doing the Grumpy shows they were also playing at another venue as well. I moved away for five years came back and the first show I see back here was NWB tour and it was at Grumpy's and it was awesome but it was the only place they played. I did think it was strange that they weren't playing anywhere else. Now that it seems it is the only place they'll play here I'm fine with an indoor Melvins show but I'm not cool with a fucking 30 minute set outside at noon(actually I'm cool with noon, I'm old so the earlier the better for me). I wish on those occasions they could do two shows or something. One short set at Grumpy's and then a real set at any fucking venue in town! Shit even a full set the day before or after a Bash inside or outside at Grumpy's again. I don't like getting the Melvins blue balls.

My first visit to Grumpys was the Bash in the parking lot and I didn't mind it.  I don't have the experience of seeing them inside to compare it with.  I did see Buzz' b-day party there and the acoustic show was great. I just love the whole venue/bar/food/beer.

From that moment forward all other music receded into "everything else" as I drank deep from the chalice.

Thee Headcoats and Mudhoney were good too.

Buzzinthebox

2009 at The Meridian (now closed) in Houston. Big biz lineup, but no opener so Buzz and Dale opened as a two piece playing old material such as oven and newer material like suicide in progress (new at the time). They burst my ear drums as a two piece then made me deaf for 3 days after big biz joined them. Met dale at the start of the show talking to Brian, I was so star struck I about shit myself. I told dale I chose to go to that concert for my birthday so at the end of the show he pointed at me with his drum stick and handed it to me in front of the audience. Such a great memory

anaconda

1991 at Graceland in Vancouver, BC. Opening band was Facepuller.
The one thing that stands out in my mind was Buzz coming on stage
and saying "shut up faggots" before they even played a single note.

 Now I have some questions about this post! What the hell happened?

Satchel Paige

I remember Buzz looking irritated to say the least, always scanning the crowd with disappointment. He left the stage and Dale, Jared, and Coady stayed on and jammed. They whistled 'roadbull' and someone was whistling for something out of key and I can only suppose they were trying to get Buzz back on stage.... Or Toshi for that matter...but nobody came and they left. I was constantly going from the stage back where my cousin was sitting so all I could think was somebody may have flipped buzz off or threw something...

2nd question: didn't the Melvin's play a Beatles tune this show?

3rd question: in between BB and Melvs some videogame lookin movie was being played?

I could go on...
