It's highly probable that Melvins will play in Alaska in September as the first stop of the 51-gig Melvathon spanning all 50 states and WDC, too.

Does anyone have any first-hand experience of Anchorage (I'm assuming that's where the gig will be) as I might try and show up there with a ticket and a change of socks.

Knowledge of the whereabouts of the second gig of the tour would be useful to know, too.

Anyone been to Alaska? Anyone lived there? Tips?

Oh, and is anyone else going?

I haven't been to Anchorage in over 20 years, but what I do remember is it's cold!  Obviously.  Pack warm.

As for the second show, the closest state is Washington, so that'd make sense.

I don't think I can make it to Alaska, though I'd love to.  If you're going that far, ya may as well stay for Washington and Oregon!

the alaska show would be nice... I bet a plane ticket would be not too expensive from canada.

Alaska's pretty awesome.  Went there for the first time last year for 10 days of fishing.  Spent a couple of days in Anchorage.  Quite a few good bars and of course a visit wouldn't be complete without spending a night at the Great Alaskan Bush Company.  Anchorage's finest gentlemens club.

I would think the next date would be in WA or CA.  If they're renting gear, they might fly back to CA to pick up their normal gear and start the tour from there.  Seattle is the closest in the lower 48 to Alaska, so they might start there as well.  If you come to Seattle, you can crash at my place (must like children).  We have a spare bedroom.

Alaskan Brewery is very good, try all their stuff.
Hail, not fail.
PS:  fuck him.

I had a friend who stayed in Alaska over the summer roughly 8 years ago.  He loved it.  I forgot why he went.  It was kind of random.

Has Anchorage been confirmed?  I'd imagine they'd choose Juneau just because it's closer to fly into.

Uncle Fester

melvins bbs meet in alaska?

i lived in alaska for 5 years and the most part in anchorage. i am guessing that they would play at Chilkoot Charlies. its the largest bar in town and has the most shows. there are a few other spots that could house the MELVINS. i know anchorage like the back of my hand. feel free to ask away.
i may never go down in history but i will go down on your sister

Juneau would be close but you can only get there by air or sea. so i think it might be harder to get a large crowd. fun fact: by total square miles Juneau is the second largest city in the USA.
