There's a tier of Melvins covers by which I judge all the others. Green Manalishi, Sacrifice, Lexicon Devil, Youth of America, Jerkin Krokus.

The next tier has most of Sausages, HAT B Sides, PAT, Crybaby, Kiss covers, Flipper covers, etc.

Then there's this one and a few other classic rock and novelty tunes that really don't do much for me. Oh well.

Then there's nothing nobody can do for you in that case.

You forgot Halo of Flies live.  8)

they extensively covered Ballad of Dwight Frye  and for awhile they did The Nile wayy back in the day (Not sure if it's inspired by the original Floyd or the Voivod cover of this)

Not to forget Okie from Muskogee

Off topic for sure, but my favorite cover of all time is Jerkin Krokus by Mott the Hoople. The Green Manalishi is a close second. I think the batch of HAT covers is really great. Mainly, I like how they were recorded. They just sound great! The Melvins have released a shit ton of covers. In fact, that's kinda what they do now. Every release in the last 10 years has at least one cover and it has helped pad the length of their albums.

And you thought the traditional song covers were ridiculous? I love it.

I'm going to guess that 0:11 second "Fuck You" after is just a really short version of the Stiffs/Subhumans song.

So true. Green Manalishi is way up there at the top of the lists for me!

It is remarkable just how many recent Melvins albums feature a cover song. Especially the last decade or so! Just looking through the discography i think these are the only ones without covers. The Maggot one could say "covers" Bob Dylan at the start i suppose.

Bullhead
Prick
Stoner Witch
Stag
Honky
The Maggot
The Bootlicker
Hostile Ambient Takeover
Pigs Of The Roman Empire
(A) Senile Animal
Hold It In
A Walk With Love & Death

Im not too much for it myself. But if i enjoy the cover song then it usually turns out good. I think it is telling in a sense that most of my favourite Melvins albums DON'T feature a cover song! Im not sure how i like the idea of them "padding out" a record.

Also in a way, im surprised they include as many covers as they do. Buzz has said a few times that he has so much material written or half written. I imagine it would feel better to get that out of his system than record yet another cover.

Still excited for this record. Even if there's only two more tunes in the vein of "Caddy Daddy" and "Bouncing Rick" and the rest is weirdness, it will be a great return to form. I also really hope they play at least one of these songs in the veep streams.

I keep thinking that too. I'd love to see Caddy Daddy get an airing but based on past Melvins tendencies i'd say unlikely. I keep thinking it will be songs that they have been playing live fairly recently. Im gonna guess Sesame Street Meat, Amazon, Revolve, Night Goat and The Bit.

Back to the covers, did the Melvins cover themselves on AWWL&D with Euthenasia?
