Instead of rehashing this again I will try a different spin on it:
Ever hear FX/Supernaut off Black Sabbath Volume 4?
Same concept with Magic Pig Detective. The excruciating wait through the feedback for the fast part is what gives the song its strong appeal.

Difference is Sabbath spend less than a minute on FX and it is a separate song. Buzz doesn't want you to skip the feed back, he wants you to suffer through it only to be rewarded by an amazing finish.

That's gotta be the heaviest album ever. (Vol. 4) Just that "Under the Sun" riff alone.

Also, when the melvins would do medleys like Echohead/Don't Piece Me and Revulsion/We Reach; i'd imagine they thought of Luke's Wall/War Pigs (from Paranoid) or the above mentioned Under the Sun/Everyday Comes and Goes.

thats the greatest song on stoner witch, if you dont like the feedback, well... thATS just your problem... the feedback on that song is the creepiest thing.
then when it gets into the actual song buzzo's voice is terrifying , does anybody know if he uses an effect thing for that voice or does he do it by himself.

I think all of the Melvins albums are great.

After reading some of these posts on this message board it seems that you turds are just a bunch of idiots who can't accept that when a band does something different that doesn't live up to "Honey Bucket" or "Night Goat" that the band is always criticized doing "stupid shit".

Fuck you all!!!

Go listen to Limp Bizket, Blink 182, recent Metallica, and get into their mind-set rather than the Melvins.

amen.

I don't have any Dio/Sabbath albums. I'd like to check out "Live Evil" Dio's first solo release did kick some mighty ass, but him taking Ozzy's place, i don't know about that...

Exactly, listen to this articulate individual. Thanks PF.

No one could have stepped into Ozzy's shoes. Dio with Sabbath proved to me that Sabbath is Tony Iommi's band. Whoever the fuck is singing, Sabbath is Iommi's gig.

I loved Sabbath so much Fred Durst could fronted the band and I wouldn't have cared. But Dio was too much of an individual to accept the fact Sabbath was Iommi's band. He tried to make Sabbath his band. Fuck that.

Ian Gillan from Deep Purple is another hero of mine. Born Again sucked. No one can replace Ozzy in Sabbath, Sabbath was Ozzy, not Iommi. Iommi finally figured it out and thus the reunion at World Peace or what ever the fuck.

I met Ronnie James Dio at the Rock N' Roll Clinic in Honolulu HI (a bar). I had just witnessed his show at the NBC arena and I was drunk as fuck. He stepped out of a limo and I yelled "there you go big guy!". He is a little fuck and his body guard took me as a hostile threat.

That being said I have some tastey Sabbath Vinyl that I will make a CRD for you. Bootlegs from the day. One with Ozzy at Lund, Sweden called "Doomsday Resitation" the other with Dio, Providence RI, thats in the USA, Death Riders.

Nice story Grim, i'd like to hear that "blow on a jug" and "Evil Woman" (ELO cover, their first single)

Also thanks to Chalupa for the www.black-sabbath.com site. I liked reading about the bands lineup changes. (I didn't know Rob Halford did a couple shows when Dio refused to open for Ozzy on his "No More Tours" tour.)
Also, i found on that site that Rhino is releasing (early March) a "Black Box" with all 8 original albums, with two of the above mentioned songs that I don't have. I just hope the original lineup can get along and release a new studio album soon. (loved Psycho Man, and Selling My Soul)

mr. bunghole

if theres one song by the melvins that makes me think of nirvana its set me straight.  That part in Honey Bucket is old school hardcore as fuck.  Reminds me of the groove parts of pig destroyer and shit.

I saw Sabbath's last tour with Ozzy in 1978..."Never Say Die" It was fucking horrible!!  The one saving grace of that show was the opening act which know one I knew had heard of....Van Halen touring their first album....Eddie played "Eruption" and the place went dead silent in awe....Anyway it was Ozzy's time to go.  I thought Sabbath were done... but Heaven & Hell suprised me...I mean i was only like 17, but I thought it was a good album then.....but that was it...Mob Rules & Born again and all that other crap they put out was shite imo.....My fave album would probably be Sabotage....that was about their peak to me...and I was raised on that stuff...

I really like houdini.  A lot of poeple say it's half-assed but i think it has a lot of good songs on it.  Except for a few and that last track with the weird drumming is a waste of time, but other than that it's solid.
