Rocket reducer was on some versions of Houdini, so thats probably why they played it. and sacrifice was a song they played a lot when that record came out.

The concert was very good. but my concertexperience on the on the other, was somewhat thwarted by stupid headbangers. but Im not going to bitch and whine about it, I have lost all faith in most parts of humanity a long time ago.
but at least I appreaciate my own town a hell of a lot more after beeing in london. this was actually my fourth visit to england and my second time seein the melvins there. so Im a lucky bitch.

But Im not standing in the front anymore. its better sound in the back and I dont have to protect my internal organs and oricifces.

What a show is right, guys! Goddamn, gig of my lifetime methinks...yeah, Part Chimp were cool - need to check out more of their stuff and my flatmate and me both dug Deerhoof, although it was a shame that they only sorted the vocals out halfway through their set, eh? Didn't Deerhoof's drummer look a lot like Kevin, too? When he was gurning at some point it looked like it might well have been Kev circa '99.

Anyhow, the Melvins were awesome. I was right down the front right in front of King Buzzo (if anyone noticed I was the hairy fucker chucking my locks about right in front of the King) so talk about prime location. I'd been banging on all day to my friend about how they weren't going to do Pearl Bomb so it was a nice surprise when they opened their set with it, or at least the riff from it. They launched into Hooch, which slew and Night Goat which, being my favourite song of all time made me come close to orgasm. It was awesome to hear Lizzy, Goin' Blind and Copache live sounding just thst little bit more impressive than on record. Oh, by the by, anyone notice at the onset of Joan of Arc Dale substituted "you knuckledheads" for "you chilly-choking pepper-bellies"? Cheech and Chong quote! Yay! And that version of Sky Pup!!! Fucking hell, they need to re-record that song that way...Oh, it was all so good, but tragedy of tragedies I had to leave during Spread Eagle because of the unbelievably early last train home. Mind you, it meant that I could get a bootleg t-shirt from the street vendors before they ran out, which I'm proudly sporting today.

I seriously think that only another show by the Melvins could come anywhere close to topping last night in my book. For good measure, I'll close this slightly tired and random series of rants by posting the setlist as I best remember it...*NB, now I've started typing it's dawned on me that I can't actually remember the exact order of proceedings, but I'll give it my best

Pearl Bomb
Hooch
Night Goat
Lizzy
Copache
Goin' Blind
Joan of Arc
Set Me Straight
Sky Pup
*cover, might've been Rocket Reducer, something I didn't recognise straight off the bat*
Teet
Honey Bucket
Hag Me
Spread Eagle Beagle

And then I guess, Sacrifice which I wish I'd seen but didn't...

Buzz actually sang pearl bomb too.
when they started playing it I thought it sounded like a Butthole surfers song...I dont remember wich one now.

the concert was great, but the crowd was nothing like i had expected. the electric ballroom gig in february was nothing compared to this. there were like 2 people headbanging there, and everyone else was looking at them like they were retards (i'm sure they were). anyway, the first warm up band sucked balls, but thats nothing new. we kicked our way to the front when deerhof got on i think. they were great. its hard to be a little girl out there, so had to use my viking powers to hang on to the fence in the front. well.. the melvins were great, as usual, so all in all i enjoyed the concert, if i leave out the feet i got thrown in my back head, the elbow crushing my hand, and the annoying guy with a boner rubbing up against my ass for the last couple of songs.

i have some videos of the 4-5 first songs. my memory card was full when they started to play honey bucket, but i deleted a random file, and got some of it. i got some pictures too, i'll upload it next week. its like 500mb so.. :P
i don't have a square to spare. can't spare a square.

I don't get that dry humping shit. The only thing you succeed in is looking like a fucking creep.

I think the guy in front of me wanted me to press my schlong against him, cause he started to butt his..well butt against me like crazy. strange guy, I asked if I could hold the fence, and he replied "that hed been waiting for three hours..blah blah" angrily...bullshit. I just wanted a place to hold on to. Im not sneaky in pursuit of getting in the front. I just go.
Lunica is exagerating, we didnt "kick", hehe.

after the shit got started I just had to lay on his back cause there was no place to go.
I shook his hand afterwards and thanked for the use of his back.
I thought about buying him a beer, but after that butt incident and him acting like a dickhead I decided not to.
I came from Norway...
I was next to him in line.
fuck his three hours.

wow, Im such a bitter bastard, hehe.

the truth is that I am happy as a clam.
I got to see the melvins again and bought a bunch of cool toys and cartoons/books.

and when I came home I had recieved a book in the mail from Phillip Irwin autographed personally to me!
And in another package I had recieved Crumple by Dave Cooper.
thats nice stuff to come home to :)

Lunica

yeah, like monday or something.. i'm gonna go see klumof tomorrow, and i'm too lazy to bring my camera and stuff. and i don't have any ftp program on my ibook yet :)

I know exactly how you feel man.  ive made that same mistake myself....never again though.  You get your hopes up and drive all this way only to have the whole experience ruined by a few drunken morons.  Oh well, theres always next time.

no no no no NO!!!

I can't even believe you're saying that. Yes, taste is 100% subjective but fuck me, how can you not think that Part Chimp was heavy as hell, have incredible riffs and cleverly thought out time signatures? listen to their albums more than three times and you'll know what I mean.

i think they slayed. i'm a HUGE fan.

deerhoof = ace.

well, it seemed like one looong song that never ended... i dont even remember what they sounded like, its not my type of music. sure, ive heard a lot worse, but its nothing compared to the melvins.. it was just "waiting music"..

Part Chimp were slightly boring, but Deerhoof delivered. Cool frontwoman.
