A bold statement, I CANT WAIT (whats slsk?)
Also melvins is gay cuz some of their songs are just noise, i tell you this so you all don't buy albums and find out only one two songs is good on them.

slsk = soulseek

I think i'm gonna wait and not download this. As wanky as it sounds i like the feeling of actually finding a new melvins album (which can be hard here sometimes) and getting it home, chucking in my cd player and hearing it then for the first time. I find that i lose that when i download something. And, i mean, it's the melvins so i'm gonna buy it anyway so i might as well wait. I'm sure from what you've all said that it's worth the wait.

disclaimer: i have nothing against anyone that has downloaded it. haha, as long as they end up buying a copy

From what i can gather from Allmusic, DHC is a song by the Dance Hall Crashers?  Im just trying to find the original song on slsk to see if it sounds the same as the Melvins cover version.

EDIT: Yeah, im pretty sure its not the same song, hehe.  Cant really see them liking ska-punk very much, let alone covering it.

whoever has the soulseek name Electric Frost, I'd like to thank you for letting me download this thouroughly INCREDIBLE album from you. And if you don't like me broadcasting your name, I apologise

and yeah, this is the heaviest the Melvins have ever been
YEAH!
Electric Frost is a really nice guy, he is who I d/led from too.
Really really nice guy, I wasn't going to bring his name up since we had a good talk and I don't want him getting 1000 uploads at once, but he loves sharing music.
I told him about this site and that I'm on it and stuff, and he should stop by sometime.

this seriously probably is the heaviest I've seen the Melvins.
It's pretty metal, I mean, in a Melvins way.

i just talked to him and he said uploads don't bother him
still if you do d/l from him, talk to him a bit, he listens to really good music and is originally from washington and stuff.

rimb

Surely there's some info about DHC in the liner notes (if it's a cover) or have people that have heard it only downloaded it?

maybe the only two incredibly nitpicky things i can come up with are wishing they had left some crowd noise in the recording, and maybe dss playing guitar to fill out parts like the rythym gtr. under the going blind solo, just for the original houdini recording's sake.

Yes- I agree.

Thanks for the review, cap'tn.

"'Melvins played great grunge favorites tonight such as Sweet Willy Racecar, Tweetis, Coven, Lyle, Under from over Poop and the epic Your Welcome."

you and skizm should hook up.  if I may quote the great skizm-bits talking about his favorite melvins track on the "all time favorite melvins track" thread:

definately impossible to pick. i always originally thought "operation blessing" then last week it was "pink bat" and tonight it's "sweet butterfly". depends more on the mood. fuck knows maybe "manky" or "creepy smell"?

operation blessing?  sweet butterfly?    I love that.

I'm officially on the "insiders" list.  listening to it right now.  it fucking rocks, pure and simple.

I agree with the "no crowd noise" thing.  sounds kinda strange when you know its live but you can't hear ANY crowd noise.

Makes me think that it wasn't played in front of an audience, not even an 'invitation only' one.
I think they played it live to tape in an empty warehouse. There's no way that we wouldn't hear
even a bit crowd noise leaking thru the open mics.

agreed.  but couldn't they take all that out after the fact?  say during mixing?

The guitars could be direct lines to the board so they wouldn't pick up crowd noise,
though I find this very unlikely, I think Buzz would mic his amp to get a nice crunch.
Even so, the drum mics and the vocal mics would be open, and presumably
would pick up crowd noise. Unless they had a sign that said 'hold your applause'
throughout the whole set, I don't buy it.
