Mad Arab

OK, I downloaded the official and legal mp3, "A Civilized Worm". My initial thoughts about the track are very positive. The drums at the beginning sound kind of phased which is cool I guess but I am thinking it could be the mp3 format at 96kps that makes the drums sound like that. When the guitar came into the picture, the tone and the main riff during the first half of the song sound vaguely like "Queen" from the album Stoner Witch. What really stands out in my view are the duel/harmonized vocals, especially in the second half of the song. I dig the vocals totally. It's a dynamic that adds even more to the Melvins plate. Nice little touch of panned echo on the word "wait" toward the end of the song. The song ends with a bit of cool twin drumming and a bit of guitar jack noiseloop. This song is a nice little number.

...and calmer than the rest of the album.

the dual vocals on this thing are insane.
their voices meld/compliment each other so well that it is hard to hear it as two people sometimes.  they've created a new animal and it is beautiful.

SatansLittleHelper

I am a sucker!!!
I found the album online. Downloaded it.
Pondered whether I should listen to it or wait.
But no!!!
I couldn't wait. It would be like making a junkie sit in one end of
the room and having some smack across the room just stairing
at him.
I got the itch!!!
Man do I feel guilty.
I can't say enough about A History of Bad Men though.

So youre gonna buy the album when it comes out right?

what can I say, the album I've been waiting for all my life!!!
it starts slowly with a heavy, sludgy song called "boris", only a genius could have come up with a name like that for a song!!!
it then continues with "anaconda", where dale and coady's drum skills really show!!! I don't think dale could have played this one  by himself...
I didn't really like the other stuff at the begining, but after I've listened to "your blessened" 6,236 times, I can defintely say it's a good song...   a real 1991 feeling to it though...   it's like the melvins are going back to their roots...
the end of the album is a huge surprise....  I know album endings are important to some people so I won't spoil it for u guys, I'll just say that in the last song, "cow", all band members collaberate to produce a killer drum solo with dale finally getting the help he needs to become a decent drummer.  if I'm not mistaken they took the 2 drummer thing further and, as mentioned, all band members played on one drum kit together!!!  dale was playing bass drum (about the only thing he CAN play), coady was in charge of the snare, and Buzz, u won't believe it, was the "cymbal officer"!!! banging on these mother fuckers like there is no tomorrow...  crazy shit....
all in all, a really good album if u listen to it enough times...  I mean with song names like "zodiac", "ligature", and "if I had an exorcism" how can u go wrong???  also, the "promo" copy I just got in the (e)mail from (a) guy(?) called soulseek, (a) really funny fucker, had a spelling mistake, so song number 4 was spelled "it's shaved" instead of "it's shoved"... ah, funny...   so now after every time I shave my pubic hair I listen to that song, put the CD next to my penis and joyfuly shout "it's shaved"...  man, great albums sure make my day!!!
to conclude, defintely the best album of 2006, too bad some of u lame fuckers couldn't get ur hands on (a) promo copy...
