The song Honey Bucket's overrated, but I really like Goin' Blind (even though I hate Kiss with the fire of 100 suns).  As of lately, I've been listening to my newly purchased copy of 26 Songs, which is the head of the ass-kicking departmant.

Set Me Straight: Sound like a song from The beatles. I like it but usually skip it. Its like the Pop song of the melvins. We get tired of it pretty fast.

What's up w all these Beatle references? " Set Me Straight " goes all the way back to Mangled Demos. I always liked it but the version on Houdini is my least favorite.

Honey Bucket: A classic. When I have someone who dont know the melvins and he want to hear them, I play this song.

Same here, for some reason I think it makes a great introduction to the Melvins for newcomer's. Bar X The Rocking M is another good choice.

Huh? Houdini is a pop album? What songs? Lizzy is really, really formulaic and pretty boring, but I wouldn't even call that song pop.

And what do you mean Houdini is an album to Nirvana fans? Do you think Buzz had that in mind when he wrote the songs? I don't. You say some really weird stuff sometimes, Beto, but I like your accent, so it's fun to read.

i hear Melvins since 1989/1990.For old fans,Houdini is , yes , a POP version of Melvins.the same to Piece of Cake of Mudhoney.its POP too.

Hey, are you a Sepultura fan? I bought Chaos A.D. a few weeks ago and I think it's boring. Alex Newport from Fudge Tunnel helped with the guitar sound on the album - I think that's what bugs me about it. The guitars sound really dull, just like Fudge Tunnel.

Hooch: immediately a hit, very much meant to be poppy. still an amzing song. the chorus=great.

Night Goat:  the fuzz is amazing in this song. and whatever that buzzing is in the background. nice touch. i think dale does especially good in this good in this song.

Lizzy: definitely one of my favorites. cannot beat that chorus. real boring at some points though.

Goin' Blind: ah alice cooper. amazing song buzzo shows his pipes can fuckin howl. the hair metally part gets to me after a while though.

Honey Bucket: unforgettable verse riff. thats all i have to say.

Hag Me: Buzzos singing is a hi lite but the song never hit me as anything special. tune is very good.

Set Me Straight: very poppy. very forced song. its ok. singing annoys me, effect is weird.

Sky Pup: Cobain on gittar is a cool touch, the song on a whole isnt amazing.

Joan of Arc: amaizng shrieks. amazing song. and of course the ending. so cooool.

Teet: best part of song;feedback at end.

Copache: AMAZING. best song on album. lead part rocks my fucking skull. one of my favorite melvins songs, up there with easy as it was and junebug.

Spread Eagle Beagle: boring. Dumb. Don't like it at all. pearl bomb too but good bass line.

When i bought Houdini I didn't even know he 'producded' untill i bought and opened the cd and read the linnier notes and it only says he produced a few songs on there.... And I find Sky pup to be an annoying song. Kindof a primus feel to it but whatever.

All I have to say is I was happy as hell to see a melvins cd in a music store (which is a rare as hell around here) and I'd buy any album unless I already have it.( even the roman pigs but that ones growin on me)

I don't think that "houdini" is a pop album ... It's one of my favourites. The sound is rough but the songs are pretty cool. If there was a melvins album which deserves the "pop" qualifier, it would be stoner witch, or stag ... (good albums anyway)
