What/Where/When was your first Melvins show?

that story right there is one of the many reasons Melvins are my favorite band. I love the fact that they will do shit like that and don't give a fuck if anyone is annoyed or booing them

totally. i remember the second time i saw the melvins was on ozzfest '98 in Akron, OH. when they came on they played the beginning to night goat(if i remember which song correctly) for almost 10 minutes before finishing the song, inciting many boos in the process. i also remember buzz making fun of all the bands saying things like "we'd like to thank ozzy for bringing us out", "who wants to hear some ozzy!", and shit like that. he called them the 'robotic ozzfest announcements' or something like that.

they opened for Primus at the State Theatre in Detroit. First of two nights i believe. I ended up throwing a shoe at primus and it hit his bass. Les stopped the show and was talking shit about me - all pissed.

i was young and ignorant.

but i remember not being into Melvins that night. i think they fucked around most of the time trying to piss off the crowd.

sorry, this is common quote from Les when berating people that throw shit on stage or at him. i've seen les around 20 times & i've heard this rant every time it happens. i agree with him theory about throwing shit on stage. but, there's been a couple times he's completely stopped songs just to bitch about & then never finished the song which pissed me off. you would think after all these years he would realize it's going to happen no matter how times he tells someone the have a small penis.

1984 ('85 ?) at the Kent Commons with Subvert, Nisqually Podunk Nightmare, Diddly Squat, and Social Wart.  I was pretty much a hardcore punk purist until I saw them live.  Of course like the rest of us "that show changed my musical life"  We here in the Seattle area were lucky to have them early on when there was still a fast edge to them.  I couldn't even guess the ammount of times I saw them live before they moved to Berkley, they used to be on every good punk rock bill that happened up here it seemed.

I also do not have photographic evidence and do not give a fuck if any of you believe me.  I do not need to prove anything to any of you.

Did you see Metal Church play as well? That would have been great to see the early shows.

Oh yes.  Metal Church were another local band that almost over played here.  They were fun.  I do not think I ever saw a Metal Church / Melvins show though.....

I remember reading something in one of the liner notes(can't remember which album), where Buzz is talking about Kurt Vanderhoof and is sorta dogging on him for being a homo and playing in Metal Church

I got into em about 94, and by 96 I was absolutely certain that this was my favorite band of all-time (big thanks to the rocket article where the Melvins reviewed their own records, it was a great discography that helped me out in the days before the interbutts). I was 15, sophomore. Took a girl. Mom dropped us off and picked us up  Good times

I have this show on dvd I think. Buzz has some stripped pants on and his playing bass in the beginning while Mark D plays guitar.
