What/Where/When was your first Melvins show?

First time I saw them was in Nashville, TN in Fall of 1991.

They played in a little Indian restaurant on West End.

Joe played bass.

They opened with Charmicarmicat and followed with It's Shoved. Other songs I remember: Eye Flys, Boris, Euthanasia.

The set ended abruptly when Buzz passed out during a song and stayed on the floor for a few minutes.

Good times.

taj mahal! nice! i just sent hanzy a flyer from that show!  according to some(hank 3), buzz had a root canal done and had a reaction to his meds, or whatever meds he decided to mix with his meds.  i missed it due to band practice and the other members were haters!

First time I saw the melvins was sometime in 2006, when pigs was just getting released along with the jello biafra thing they did.  the melvins just did a melvins set before jello came out to do all those never breathe songs. Dave Scott Stone did that awesome noise intro to POTRE title track. He played bass too as a fill in for kevin.
all night before, after and in between all the bands Wesley Willis was playing through the venues speakers.

1990 houston at the axiom i think.  was on acid.  did not fully dig it at the time.  seen them about once a year some times twice since then.  missed a few shows too.  wish i would have seen the HAT tour, but only got the geek show.

I will never forget it, got my o.g. melvins army shirt at that show!

Saw them back in April 2002 opening for Tool. Didn't know a thing about Melvins back then, but was impressed when the drummer almost ran on stage and just started beating the living shit out of the drums he had. Other than that and the guy that had the weird hair unfortunately I don't remember too much else:

10.8.96 An Evening with the Melvins 3-set extravaganza at La Luna, Portland Oregon. I got into em about 94, and by 96 I was absolutely certain that this was my favorite band of all-time (big thanks to the rocket article where the Melvins reviewed their own records, it was a great discography that helped me out in the days before the interbutts). I was 15, sophomore. Took a girl. Mom dropped us off and picked us up  Good times

Lollapalooza jocks there for Primus

being a long time Primus fan i resent that comment. i'm no Lollapalooza jock. whatever the fuck that is? all the Lollapaloser's i knew in high school were not Primus fans at all.

sorry, i was at the show as a primus fan, so i'm not painting all primus fans as jocks. it was post them headlining lollapalooza that year, so it seemed like there was a huge jump in those types coming to see them than before. sorry again, not trying to be a prick...

nah, it's cool. i'm sure they did see an increase in non-normal primus fans(if you can call a primus fan normal) after lollapalooza. i actually didn't see primus until '99 even though i've been a fan since '90. i don't know why it took me so long to see them.

The show in Detroit for that tour was awesome, in a hideous way.  There was an astoundingly high Harpos (Detroiters will get the reference)/jock/meathead contingent that I was really shocked to see.  It was sometime after Primus got a little wider notoriety, and the above "fans" were just not ready for the Melvins.  They were booed horribly, people were throwing shoes, it was monstrous.  In response, the Melvins played "Honeybucket" pretty early in the set, got them going, then slammed on the brakes with one of their patented feedback free-for-alls.  Buzz stood there at attention letting the feedback swell with his eyes rolled back in his head, footwear, hats, and plastic cups filled the air.  It was brilliant.  The meatheads could barely contain themselves.

The second time I saw them I got to meet Buzz outside the venue.  He was just standing there, as the line filed into the building.  No one was even paying him any attention, so my buddy and I went up to him and asked if they could play something for us.  He said, "sure, what do you wanna hear?"  I said, anything off of Bullhead would be awesome.  He said, "no problem...we'll make it a surprise!  At least I know the band'll be surprised when I tell 'em."  They came out and played Boris, then Your Blessened.  I about shat myself.  I believe that was the Stoner Witch tour.  Don't know how many times I have actually seen them, has to be 15 or more.  The Melvins and Clutch are my all-time favorites.

that story right there is one of the many reasons Melvins are my favorite band. I love the fact that they will do shit like that and don't give a fuck if anyone is annoyed or booing them
