The night after the recording of "Fucker Club" (same venue) and the last show of the tour. They did a much more relaxed and experimental set. Buzz talked a lot. He broke a string at one point and instead of stopping to change it, turned the string changing into a feedback "solo" without missing a beat. loved it.

I don't remember what show it was,it was mid 90s,and they ended the last song,Buzz & Mark D put their guitars down still feeding back and walk off stage. Dale comes out from behind the drums like he's going to walk off too,but he stops in the middle of the stage and just starts staring down the crowd,in the speedo, silent, for like 3 or 4 minutes, total look of disdain, like if someone said something, some shit was gonna happen. Nobody moved or said any thing the whole time & then he walked off.    Awesome

I was talking to Buzz after a show with Jello, and my wife got autographs from Buzz and Dale. I was afraid to talk to Dale.  My wife told him I was a coward, and asked him to sign it to "my biggest fan". So he wrote, "To Will, my biggest fan. you are a coward."It was the set list that he signed, too. Still have it!

Well, we'll always have "In the Air Tonight." Will that be your most enduring song?
You know, that song won't lie down. It just won't go away. I mean, there's a Mike Tyson moment associated with it now. It's just bizarre. I guess it has a bit of mystery, a lot of atmosphere, and the drums coming in, pinning people to the wall.

After seeing them live at the cmpus of WWU in '91 or '92 I saw a friend across the room and went over and talked to him.  There was a cube like bench thing there and I put my foot up on it.  After a few minutes I felt something on my toe.  I looked down and Dale was writing his name like a little kid on the toe of my All-Star.  He then asked me to lift up my other foot which I gladly did and he drew the old school flower on the other toe.  I was then a stupid punk kid and wore those shoes everywhere until they were falling apart and hrew them away.  I have no pictures and do not care if you d not believe me.

We also talked about the first time I ever saw them live in Kent, WA when Dale almost got arrested for smoking pot in the van........

Oh Yeah!  I forgot to take my pills.....

I'd like a shot at a signed poster:

I've posted this silly story before:

Buzz -"that's a big bud"

me - looks to and fro to my left, right, my purse dangling at my side, the dale crover drumb 7 inch in my right hand  then finally saw the huge 24 ounce can of bud ice in my left hand and said, oh, yeah"  (what  a goober!) #-o
they fn' rocked out that night, too.  i got a bootlegged vhs, and the cameraman turned off the video and changed positions right in the middle of AMAZON! :x

hey ministry fiend, guess what, you just lost!  bwahahahaha

My favorite?  I guess it would be seeing five of the seven 25th anniversary shows.  Travelling to NY and Boston, then two shows in Seattle and one in Portland.  Getting to hang out backstage with Buzz, Dale, Trevor, Mike, and Gibby in NY is probably my favorite memory of the tour.  Shooting the shit and eating their pizza and having some beers made for a great night.

Damn you!

Mine is the first time seeing them in 2003 opening for Tomahawk. The night they became my favorite band.

Mine would be the 2006 show in Athens GA around Halloween. David Yow sang with the Melvins live. Also, between bands we meet this frat guy my friends and I infamously tagged 'The Puma Man' who started talking to us about all the thing he'd BBQ'd and covered with Caesar salad dressing. "Yeah, man, you name it I've fucking ate it. Cow, pork, chicken, shark, fuckin' puma!" Not to mention the worlds biggest Jesus Lizard fan was there and God bless the little woman she was trying to find David Yow she kept pointing at the same sound guy at the show intoxicated and asking, "is that David Yow? I LOVE JESUS LIZARD" Also, Dale wore an Elvis costume and consumed sandwiches on stage and broke the styrofoam plates with his bare hands while Coady kept the beat going for Porn. Not to mention Dale did an amazing duck call solo into the mic, blew me away. Harvey Milk also reunited and played with the original line up one last time at that show and I realized that I was living in the same area as one of the last true remaining cult bands the world will ever know. You simply can't repel flavor memories of this magnitude. During the time the Melvins were playing I also became a father. There was this D cupped girl who got right next to me, which at first I was annoyed because she had squeezed in and it was now a more uncomfortable position right at the front, and she kept dancing the night away to this totally un-dancable music. A break occurred in between songs and she leaned over and yelled in my ear, "I think you just impregnated my egg!" I was overwhelmed with joy as anyone would be to finding out that they became a 'father' and after the show got a unexpected kiss from the girl and a free feel of some boobies which pleases most anyone male or female. Afterward, we went to the Grit and got some food and a nice chocolate milkshake and sadly slept alone that night D:.

Good idea Butthole. Hard to have a good Melvins memory when you're on the opposite sides of the planet but here's mine:

Back in April 2002 I saw Tool live for the first time, I think they'd only been to Australia once before or maybe twice. So I was pretty keen.

I remember going to the concert with my brother. We arrived a little early but doors pretty much opened straight away. I had no idea who the opening band and I didn't really care because I was there for some Tool.  I remember this shirtless skinny orange haired guy almost run out on stage, I thought he was a roadie, but he sat down at the kit and straight away without saying a word he started playing this awkwardly timed drum solo which lasted for a long time. I was impressed at how much noise he was making and how heavy the drums were. Yeah, he was an okay drummer. Anyway, later two dudes in dresses came out with the letters F U and started playing some really loud noisy shit. The Bassist was doing a strange dance too.

When Tool came on later, I remember thinking about the difference between the two live shows. Tool, I summarized months later after the hype died down, were actually really robotic and boring  - like they'd done it a thousand times before - but Melvins - I latter found out their name - were exactly like a live rock band should be. Raw and loud! What really impressed me and stuck with me months later was the effort they put into it. I don't think they got much of a reception either after their set.

Anyway, After being slightly interested in them I remember seeing one of their records in the store - The Bootlicker. Huh? Was this even the same band? I was pretty pissed at the lack of heaviness and the fucking weird songs like We We. Fuck this band. I almost threw that album out and pretty much ignored the Melvins for another year or two!

Bootlicker is one of my favourites now.
