i think my favorite would be..midnight show Olympia Washington..for the stoner witch record party...it was a "quiet" show...i watch the show from the side of the stage next to buzz's dad and wife mackie, thanks to my Spanish teacher ..Mr Dan Raymond...set totally rocked..was in awe the whole time...and after the show got to hang out backstage and watch duetrom kick a fan around and yell cause someone stole 500 bucks from him....absolutely awesome....it was also my first melvins show....

I was at that show too. The quiet show at the Capitol Theater. Some people in the crowd were so pissed! Others thought it was funny. I have a recording of that show, I listened to it just the other day in fact.

Send me a pm...I have trades.  I'd love a copy.

It can be done.

Ok, whichever of you is closest to WA state, send me a PM with your address and I'll mail ya a copy.

After the first song a bunch of people are yelling "Turn it fucking up!"  Mark D replies, "Hey, i don't go to McDonalds and tell you how to do your job."

By the 2nd song people have begun throwing stuff at the band, which just angers him even more!

This show was torrented on Dime recently, I wouldn't retorrent it from an audio cdr.  Great show.

In the summer of 1998 I was working at a newstand/comic book shop/porno store in Minneapolis.  Smashing Pumpkins were playing a free block party one block away.  The store was completely fucking packed the entire night (we sold smokes and drinks and such too).  I was super stressed and run ragged and occasionally I got to hop off a register to patrol the floor.  While I was doing a floor patrol my buddy Brandon came in, he was completely wasted on vodka, falling down and drooling on himself wasted.  Anyway, he was ranting to me about the madness of the crowd and the whole spectacle of the scene and Buzz walks into the store.  This was the day before the Sommerset, WI Ozzfest show.  Anyway, Brandon is completely freaking out, "That's King Buzzo man!"  He wanted to go talk to him, but I wouldn't let him and kinda pushed him out of the store because I had to get back to jockeying a register.  Buzz seemed bemused by the crowd and grabbed some comics, magazines, and chose my line to get rung up.  I didn't really get to talk to him beyond the monetary exchange because the line of people to ring up was never ending, but it was all pretty bizarre and the first time I got to ring up an artist that I admired, or someone "famous".  I also saw Prince wandering around that night.  Other folks I helped in my career at that place was Adrock from the Beastie Boys, Duane Dennison from the Jesus Lizard, the chick who played Josie in the Josie and the Pussycats movie, someone from Elastica, and probably more I can't think of right now.  Anyway.  I have since gotten to talk with Buzz a few times and he is always super cool and always remembers my face.  I find him very easy to talk to, but Dale makes me very nervous for some reason.  Even more so now because of Brian.  Thanks Brian.

Did you say much to Adrock?

And what did Brian do to make you nervous around Dale???

I haven't asked Buzz about it, I have meant to, but not gotten the chance because we end up talking about other stuff and he's a busy guy.
I told Adrock that License to Ill was the first album I saved up my own money to buy and he apologized.  He gave me an elbow bump 'cuz his hands were filthy from digging through record crates.  I sold him his smokes and he had to run because he was recording in town for some side project of his with the original drummer of Suicidal Tendencies.
Brian was drunk and cornered Dale to ask him questions, to help me with my book, and I just felt embarrassed, but it was pretty funny.  Brian's heart was in the right place, and he knows Dale, so it wasn't a big deal.  I got to ask some stuff, and Dale was a good sport about it.  None of it was recorded or anything.  My friend Joe who was with us said it was one of the strangest things he has experienced in regards to fanboy geekery.  Dale and I got to bond because both of our youngest boys are named Cassius (he said that's what Buzz told him to name the kid, but Buzz wanted it to be Cassius Elvis Crover).  I was hoping Brian might actually pop in here and post if I talked shit.  Dale is super nice too, just more reserved than Buzz.
