opened up w/charmicarmicat.joe was getting visibly pissed cuz some frat boy kept yelling"al franken's on bass!"
dale threw a stick and hit buzz in the head after boris ended.you could lean against the wall and feel the plywood vibrate during their set.oh,and the smithereens had just played a secret show there and came back in to watch after loading their stuff.

It happened @ the commodore in Van a couple of years ago on the ASA tour.......girlfriend got her first night out since having a baby and was so exhausted that she fell asleep - to the HEAVIEST BAND EVER! people were walking by and thought she was so pissed she passed out...best Melvins moment ever.....

Probably my favourite Melvins memory is the first time I saw them live, opening for Tool in 2002 in Australia.

Some boring goth dj was playing and I was walking out to get a drink when all of a sudden Dale walks out in his underpants and starts bashing out the outro to Black Stooges while she's still playing.

Needless to say, she was not heard again!

Here's a real GrandEmo Juan Melvins story and then some.............

My mum flew half way around the world to see me a few years back and happened to land a few hours before a Melvins gig near here. So after spending about 24hrs on a plane I dragged her to a Melvins concert. Now mum was 64yrs old at that stage but absolutely LOVED the show and totally fucked her knee up from dancing and jumping up and down. She now calls that injury her Melvins knee. To be fair mum has always liked the Melvins music though so I knew she'd like the live show.

She also drives a cab part time in Cairns, Australia while playing her cd's. She finds that playing heavy guitar music calms down the drunk idiots and they totally think she's cool and end up giving her big tips! HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

She's also told me that on numerous occassions folk have gone "is that the Melvins on your stereo?"...and she's like "yes it is.....I saw them live a few years back".......and they're like..."fucking awesome dude!"

I mean come on......the last thing you think you're going to hear when getting into a 66yr old woman's taxi is the Melvins blasting out of her stereo. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

She used to be a nurse in the good ol days.

She got bored of sitting at home all day so got a taxi license and now drives a cab in the tropics part time while blasting Van Morrison, Heavy Metal, Hip Hop and Reggae among other things. She actually loves driving a cab.

Fave Melvins memory/experience ... for a prize no less ... Hard to pickum just one ... ummm, here's one ... April 23 1995 ... Going to see the Melvins at the Oprea House (same day as the Rotate This in store) ... Good times ... hitting the beer & smoke as we wait ... and wait ... and wait for 'em to hit the stage ... lights go down ... and out they come ... feedback streaming and screaming ... Buzz's hair a huge silloutte ... as the green light illuminates further ... it reveals a tense Buzz staring down the crowd ... nothin' too weird 'bout that right? Other than his face looks like its covered in a film of dust or dirt ... feedback keeps swirling and dirty dusty Buzz just keeps glaring ... My buddy and I are laughing our asses off ... It was so funny ... they blast into At the Stake ... and me and my friend just keep laughing throu the whole thing ... like rolling around, pissing ourselves kind of hilarity ... to that ominous tune ... Buzz was givin' us some real weird looks ... like what the fuck is so funny guys? Later after the show we pulled him into a game of ... ya know that game where you make a circle w/ your thumb and finger ... try to get someone to look at it and then punch 'em when they do? Yeah that game ... it was fun ... asked him bout the dirty face ... he said we must be high ... whatever, I know what I saw!

i have never met any Melvins in person (besides Joe after he left) but every show is my favorite Melvins memory.

favorite memory was the first time I saw them in Olympia 20th Anniversary show. a great lineup with Fitz of Depression opening, Mudhoney, then the Melvins. Once they started with "Let it Be" the place went nuts. seeing them playing "Youth of America" I remember the crowd being really rowdy during this one. the best part of the evening for me though was when Mark Arm came out and they did "Sacrifice". plus I got Dale's setlist from a girl i knew who also met Buzz's neice. still best Melvins show i've seen
