By "Invitation Only" they meant three people. They were called the Melvins.
This isn't a time for lectures!

man, that's so funny!!! ........sounds like a typical Melvins style prank - hope it's true

didn't Alice Donut release a live recording with inserted crowd noise!? - Dry Humping The Cash Cow

:P

anaconda

thats what I was going to say! in regards, it's probably better that they
DIDN'T resort to putting in some cheesy, canned applause

rimb

U2 used crowd noise from a Doors live album on Rattle and Hum!

Makes me think that it wasn't played in front of an audience, not even an 'invitation only' one.
I think they played it live to tape in an empty warehouse. There's no way that we wouldn't hear
even a bit crowd noise leaking thru the open mics.
possibly true.
maybe the melvins just don't have any fans?

but, this will be one more thing to idolize kiss.
kiss alive was mainly done in the studio, making it not so live.

i really don't care if they did that or not.
it's a solid album anyway you slice it, this was atleast done in one take, that part's pretty obvious.

WOW

i just heard the pearl bomb preview and said out loud, "I'm excited."
great hearing the pearl bomb beat on drums

Pearl Bomb Beat On Drums.
that's real fun to say
oh yeah!
that is a phenominal rerecording of the song.
I'm thinking about recording this song, the way he plays it.
also, Buzz is playing along, which is a huge surpise to us as well.
is Dale singing?  it doesn't sound like Buzz.

i love the sound that comes right at the beginning, kinda a boingish sound.
the song reminds me of honey bucket's intensity with boris' heavyness.
i've listened to the whole album about 6 or 7 times all the way through.
that's pretty good considering my busy schedule.

anaconda

of course man, we all love it!  And it is better that you don't hear some lame-ass shouting from the 'crowd'

slsk = soulseek

I think i'm gonna wait and not download this. As wanky as it sounds i like the feeling of actually finding a new melvins album (which can be hard here sometimes) and getting it home, chucking in my cd player and hearing it then for the first time. I find that i lose that when i download something. And, i mean, it's the melvins so i'm gonna buy it anyway so i might as well wait. I'm sure from what you've all said that it's worth the wait.

disclaimer: i have nothing against anyone that has downloaded it. haha, as long as they end up buying a copy

Don't you guys think that if it was an invitation only show the crowd that they invited would be cool enough not to make a bunch of noise after they are told that an album is being recorded?

Jack Mort

I have it dl'ed, but am thinking about waiting til the morning to blast it full voume. i don't know if i'll be able to control myself thogh.
Accidents may happen but it's only rocks and rolling

Some interesting news: apparently Lustmord "added a few touches to it" whatever that means.
