Maybe he shoved it up the sacred part of a snowwoman before this picture of him was taken.
The expression in his face tells me it was his first time.

It's funny how we all assumed this would be a live album, while the band never said anything like that, even Patton said in interviews that Ipecac was gonna release a re-recording.

And as for that small battle between Glen and Greven, Glen was actually speaking about bootlegs at first, when the topic suddenly switched to live recordings, and that's quite an essential difference. Just thought I'd bring that up (and stir up another dialogue ;))

Alright, it is a live album, by Melvins standards.

We should've known though, that being the Melvins they would
still pull something out of the bag that surprised us. And they did!
A live recording with no audience!!

This gives every upcoming split a whole new perspective. Maybe that's another reason why there has nothing happened yet with the split with Isis, I really don't see Buzz or Dale doing a split these days.

Oh man, yesterday it was still fucking hot here in Holland and now it's raining cats and dogs, with some brutal thunder every now and then in the background that sounds like rockets are launched. The temperature is still nice though. Perfect almost for watching the last day of the Tour de France!

A bit late but what the hell, right?

This may have already been brought up, but this is my take on Houdini05.

In the same way as Ween's Live by Request, it IS as though one is sitting in on a rehearsal. And how cool is that? It's BITCHIN' COOL, that's how cool. I mean, any of us who live close enough to the venue and have enough cash to buy a ticket can see whatever band live, but NONE of us (assuming none of us are personal friends with the band) could hang out at a rehearsal.

Cool enough for me.
Cheers!

i agree.
sort of.

i definitely like listening to this album a lot.  i don't feel like it is a rehearsal, i feel like it is a live show with no audience sound  8)  i know that's basically what a rehearsal is, but i hear a difference....

the way the album begins is awesome.
listening to this in the car all the way through on full volume is what made me pick up my bass again and attempt to form a band in vermont.

It's not that weird to hear a live album with no audience. A lot of official Grateful Dead live albums don't feature any crowd noise at all. Although on Live Dead there is one song that does and that's because the performance was so good the audience went apeshit
Just like your mum does.

Random fact  # 16: All the Misfits best songs start with the letter H.

Vcavallo

indeed.
dick's picks are audience free, aren't they?
and they sound great

Frank Black records all of his albums "live" to 4 track.  In essence there is very little studio editing as the band is playing live together rather than recording parts separately laying down tracks, then mixing etc.  Playing live never requires an audience.  I remember reading somewhere  there were a few people around during the recordings but probably not what you would consider an audience.

This recording did not grab my goat so to say.Could it have been the absence of Lorax.Dunno.
