I always assumed when they released the Basses Loaded compilation that that was the full stop on the revolving door bass player era.
I never thought of it like that before but you are basically right. Although i still think Trevor will feature again at some point on and off. I never expect them to come back now, but for quite a while i was surprised that the BB boys never returned for a few shows or another one off album.

Dunn still appears on records, such as the Flipper EP.

When did that come out? I don't pay much attention to the dinky little EP's and singles they release through AmRep. Chances are it was probably recorded during the Freak Puke sessions anyway, I remember Buzz saying at the time they recorded about 40-50 songs with Dunn and as far as I'm aware I don't think they've recorded with him since.
Melvins Lite and King Dunn are two different things. he doesn't play the upright bass even remotely the same when it's with electric guitar and drums as when it's with acoustic guitar. on the album a few years ago he added the parts when the album was finished and it shows. plus there's pics and videos of him in the studio at the time they posted on IG.

I'm well aware Melvins and King Dunn aren't the same thing hence my distinction, I'm talking about the Melvins not King Dunn which is just a side project between Buzz and Dunn. What album a few years ago, Freak Puke was 10 years ago? Or are you talking about Gift of Sacrifice? What does any of this have to do with my post you replied to?

Although technically different things, personally i see them as very related and basically the same thing but without Dale. Even though they aren't. I don't know!

That's kind of nuts if you don't keep up with those AmRep EPs. There's two albums worth of non-album material since 2018 on vinyl and cheapy CDs (mostly covers and collabs)
I always hope that some day Ipecac will put out a vast Melvins collection of all the rarities and b-sides that first aired on those releases. To just put them out low-key as they are feels a little throwaway to me. I'd like to see them celebrated a bit more and collated together.

Nice one, thanks.

I'll never tire of that tour - quite possibly their greatest setlist to date and easily the most dynamic Melvins show I've been to.

Crazy that it's been a decade!

Funny seeing some of Dale's antics here about 2 minutes in. Him playfully attacking and stabbing Steven with his sticks like something out of From Dusk Til Dawn! Reminds me of Thurston and Lee when they would dual and rub their guitars together in the air.
