Well obviously that last post was just a joke.

I just don't have any problems listening to it. I'll buy it as soon as I can, and it's nice to know what the album sounds like in such an early phase. I also doubt if the band has any issues with the downloading industry, knowing how many true fans they have who will buy this album, and all the other stuff they will make available for purchase. And the people who will download this and don't like it, aren't the people the Melvins would make any money from anyway. OK, that sounds a bit strange, but I mean to say those are the people who will never understand what the Melvins are doing anyway.

There sure is some tension in this thread. I can see why but I still quite don't understand it. It's hard to see through some of the posts in this thread, are they loving, or hating? Thank God this will be over in a few months, probably even sooner.
i dig...i wasn't trying to start any shit with you, the post just made me a bit curious, to me it's like when i was a kid and i would take a peek at my xmas presents. in the end i always regretted it because the element of surprise would be gone. and that's how i kinda feel about this new album, i wish i would've waited and heard it for the first time while simultaneously staring at the art and liner notes over and over again. i don't think there's anything wrong with downloading it first cause like nick p and pretty much everyone else has said we're all going to buy it. i'm just a little disappointed in myself for not sticking to my guns.

That's alright if you got that association with it. But I don't see this album as a present per se, but more as sounds, the music! It's not something you can wrap into a present and put it under a Christmas tree. A cd on the other hand is. That could be a present. A really nice one, actually :D But it won't be until June I believe until they release it, on cd.

I'm not trying to argue with you or anything, or defend myself, but that's just how I see it. Quickly after it was released into the world wide web, that link just found me quite quickly, and I followed it.

No need to be disappointed! You learned your lesson now, don't do it again! (Hopefully that'll be in around a year or so, or with the next BB!)
it's the whole package to me that is the present.
music+artwork = something i can hold in my hand and be very proud of.
and don't worry lesson learned, although the melvins are the ONLY band i feel this way about, i wont think twice downloading the next bb album or any other for that matter!

There is also a live show where some girl was accusing him of killing Kurt and Buzz, when he found out, got on stage and proclaimed "I killed Kurt Cobain!" several times. I have the show, it is pretty funny.

Chomas

yeah I apologize to Idlehanz for my harsh words, it was just a knee jerk response to you questioning my fanhood, haha

it hurts their business = they don't like it.

It also promotes their label, and besides, I really don't see how a guy who downloads this, listens to it, thinks it's weird, decides he doesn't like, and therefore won't buy it, hurts any of their business. Those are not the people Ipecac makes money from. And to quote Iggy:

"Look out honey, cause Im using technology
Aint got time to make no apology"

It's true, you know. Technology will spread this album all over the world anyway. It only takes a few people to spread this worldwide, really. How is this different from the whole cassette taping thing?

Yeah I agree, but for you and me who will buy the album anyway it's not a problem, but with the casual douchefan doing it and not buying the album it will fuck the melvins.  Not that the MElvins are poor but there are lots of people involved with them that deserve more money than they probably make.

Yes i do like to use the word douchebag.

wow.  this thing is all over the place.

EGO the Living Planet

What a surprise! It fuckin' rules and it's not a retread of anything they've done before.

I will be there the day it's released with fuckin' bells on. I'm even gonna buy the CD, and I don't buy CDs ever anymore (I'm all about the vinyl- and I'll buy BOTH formats if they release vinyl right away). Hell, I work for a record store and I'll probably be able to talk my way into buying it before street date.

As for leaks/downloads hurting sales let me just say this: from workin' at/hangin' at the record store you can be sure that  if nobody's downloading it, nobody's buying it either and the biggest buyers are the biggest down loaders too. As for the hypothetical folks who would buy CDs if they were prevented from D/Ling: I doubt there are very many of them and I'm sure that very very few would be buying more than 5 or 10 discs a year anyway.

It's Leaked! And it's kickin' my ass!

psychonaut

I agree. This is a damn good album and I can't wait to buy it so I can own the complete package.

There's a Melvins album discussion topic dedicated to reviews of Nude With Boots here:

So what do you people think of the album cover? Looks like it's the final cover since it's officially been on that Ipecac promo site. At first I thought I didn't like it but only because of the fact that I'm not a big fan of dogs like this... but on the other hand I'm a big fan of innocent looking Melvins covers so it's actually pretty cool.

And while we're at it, I think it's a good thing that we're all gonna buy this album and even more extra merch. My problem with the whole leak thing is that I don't feel that I'm supposed to listen to it three months early. I don't even know how things like that happen in the first place. When I first heard about the album I was sure I wouldn't gonna listen to it early. It's really early in my opinion. Actually I don't know why I'm writing all this since it's just my worthless opinion and after all everyone can decide what they do. I for one had the feeling that many here don't have any problems with it and that's why I thought it over again. It's okay I guess. I haven't listened to it yet. Still I will feel bad if I do. It's not the same thing like returnig from the cd store with the actual disc in your hands...And another thing, I don't think listening to it early or not has anything to do with being a "real" fan or not, I don't think people can argue about things like that. It doesn't make any sense to me.

Wow. I don't think anyone really cares :)

I like it. But maybe it's just the cover for the advance promo.
