i'm betting the re-mix album is electroretard rereleased on ipecac records.
The remix album is not Electroretard. It is a collection of remixes of Melvins songs. Merzbow is doing a rexix, so is Matmos. I am not sure who else is involved.

so has anyone heard antmore about this remix album? i am very interested in hearing a merbow remix...although i don't know why, just the thought of good ole masima having his way with melvins. who else is on this...ugh...its driving me crazy...i gotta know!!!

if you are a fan of electronic/noise music you are going to be very pleased with this release, i cannot wait for it myself. it's coming out on ipecac and just needs to be mastered, not sure when it's going to be released yet though. this has some true all-stars of the sort involved.
is this still on?

Its just a remix of Melvins shit by Merzbow i believe.
merzbore more like it. pffft
Yeah i mean, definently PIgs woulda kicked more ass without dull ass Lustmord, I don't see why the same logic wouldnt apply here.

Merzbow blows. I can't believe how much hype a crap band like this is getting...
No wonder why Merzbow has like 26 fans.
From the Acid Mothers Temple website:
QuoteA Melvins remix album including a remix by Kawabata Makoto is due for release. The label has acclaimed Kawabata's remix as the "loudest and heaviest" on the album.
I'll admit that I haven't been paying much attention lately but this is news right? Or am I that far out of the Melvins loop? Can someone fill me in on the details please?
Its news to me. Depends on who else will do the remixing.
There's been talk of it off and on for a few years now. Most of us expected
the remix release would be in Neither Here Nor There, but as you know it
wasn't.
:D
Quality news. Kawabata Makoto will probably just turn everything up to 11.
Exclusive Merzbow remix preview:
KHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHWHIISSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSHHHHHHHHHH
at one point about 2 years ago this was posted on merzbows site.
then sieg howdy came out so wasn't sure if that was what they were refering to.
somewhere in the world there is a merzbow-melvins remix waiting to see the light of day.
I thought DJ Speedranch was going to do a remix of the whole Ozma album too, but that hasn't surfaced either.
I hope Dalek does a mix.
speedranch and merzbow yes, dalek no
not much, but I found this on the acidmothers.com. update is dated january 7, 2007:

Did I miss out on any news about the split EP with Rancid Vat? It was slated for 07 too, wasn't it?
The last thing Whiskey Rebel had to say about it, was this:

We're going to the studio very soon to record a Sonics tune for the first of a couple splits with the Melvins.
Fuckin' A. That's awesome. I would love to see a Melvins/Acid Mothers Temple tour. They'd fit in well on Ipecac too. Looking forward to seeing AMT live in May, a year after I saw them last in the same venue :D We'll have to post dates on here soon, because every Melvins fan should check them out. Devastating live band.
Anyone check out Kawabata's side album "Hot Rattlesnakes" by The Mothers Of Invasion? From '01, recently reissued stateside. Guitar heavy power trio type stuff.
i dont know how i feel about heavy, chuggy MELVINS songs being remixed . . .
thats why i havent bought "ELECTRORETARD" . . .
but ill buy it anyway, because i want to make soft, gentle, sweet love to my daddy King Buzzo . . .
dear god yes . . .
you're fucked man. it's very entertaining though...!
anyway, electroretard is G-REAT. check it out.
i, for one, can't wait to hear heavy chuggy melvins songs remixed. or any of their songs for that matter. they're not always all that heavy - which is really great, IMO
Why wouldn't you want to hear anything they have decided to release? Has anything really dissapointed? I'll admit Prick was pretty tough to get into, but it's still good.
I want to hear it. This release has been mentioned for ages at random intervals, do you think it will actually come out this time?
"HONKY" didnt really do it for me . . .
Honky sucks, and Electro retarded is not very good. Let's call a spade a spade, folks.

Sure, I could pick good songs off of each of them. But as a complete album, they're not up to par. They don't flow well. The weakest of the melvins catalog.

you are out of your mind. Honky is one of their
most well put together albums. there are a few songs that i like to LISTEN to more than others, but you must admit that Honky is incredibly cohesive and the way the songs flow is perfect. When i think of Honky i get a very distinct - though indiscernible feeling. stoner witch, houdini, etc they don't do that they way Honky does.
it's perfect and you know it. get a hold of yourself.
Electroretard....well....you're right about that one. it's a big circus and sometimes it sucks.
....but honky?
Honky and electroretard are both ace however i find myself as interested in a remix album as i was with the tribute album. not very.
I can't keep my hands off them...... what?...... my arms.
I'll be curious to hear what songs are offered up. I wonder if anything from (a)sa will make it.
ya think mark D, joe P, or kev R will get a cut of the $ for this?

I doubt any past members see a dime from royalties, etc.
so, what then? melvins bassists sign a deal that they will only recieve royalties while in the band. and if they ever leave the band or are fired they then give up all rights to any music which they recorded whilst employed by the melvins?
a curious thought.
Honky is in my top 5.

I love to think the Melvins don't work with contracts. They don't sign. Please, don't spoil my thought.
You're all fucking whack. electroretard is great.
i expect re-recordings like electroretard not just remixes per se.
I'm guessing the Melvins themselves aren't actually involved in this, but I could be wrong.

I thought Electro Retard was alright. Some of the reworked songs sounded pretty cool. And I liked Honky quite a bit.
Anyway I'm curious to see how the remix album turns out. If I buy it and don't like it and can not force myself to listen to it more than a couple of times I will just sell it to a second hand CD shop.
i dont care how much it sucks, id never sell a MELVINS cd . . .

yeah, electro was an OK album, i think it's an "easy" album...but i still do like it (i just don't love it as much as the rest)
honky is better in my opinion, i love it...
but this melvins remix album sounds insanely incredibly awesome

just because i would have rather gotten one of their real albums and not a joking one since i was just starting out.
now it's good to have in the collection.
but COD is my favorite noise album of theirs, besides pigs if you can categorize it as that.

I personally love hearing all the voices he's able to recreate.
Cacophony is a fine fine album it's true, but where is this remix record?? Judging by this thread it's been at least five years in the making. I hope it hasn't gone the way of Mike & The Melvins.
just read the following quote in an interview with greg werckman from ipecac in rock a rolla magazine and hadnt read it anywhere else yet, i think.
"we have, of course, always more melvins stuff. a couple of years ago we asked a bunch of bands to do remixes of melvins records, so there's a remix record coming out this fall."
he also talks about the electroretard reissue, which has been mentioned in another thread, and how he and mike both strongly feel the melvins are one of the greatest rock bands ever. "and i mean ever". he also mentioned he hates COD, he can't stand it.
does anyone remember which bands were asked for the remix album? i only know for sure kawabata of acid mothers temple did one remix and he said the people who had heard it said it was the heaviest one they'd heard.

i wonder what kerry king thinks of honey bucket.
now that i think about it, there's probably gonna be a patton remix, that's just an assumption. as well as - just a wild guess - isis. but i'm sure it won't be an ipecac all-star broadcast, as kawabata is part of the gang as well, and i didnt even know he liked the melvins. not that he coudl tell me the name of the track he remixed :)
interesting...
i think melvins are one of the greatest rock bands (edit: what) ever as well

That's the mark of a kick ass record label when they're willing to let the band do literally anything they want to the extent they'll release records they hate. I'm willing to bet Patton likes that album a lot more than Werckman does though.

Good call on the lip ring and tight red jeans too. The chicks worship that stuff.

QuoteMelvins remixed
The long-in-gestation Melvins remix album, announced as far back as 2006, will finally see the light of day this year. Entitled Chicken Switch, the album sees a host of avant-garde and experimental artists re-interpreting Melvins tracks, with the record expected in late September/early October via Ipecac.
The full tracklisting is as follows:
1. Washmachine Sk8tronics - Eye Yamatsuka
2. Emperor Twaddle Remix - Christoph Heemann
3. She Chokes Her Dying Breath and Does It In My Face - V/VM
4. AAHHH
thanks rimb!

me neither but goddam it looks interesting.
it appears as though its not as simple as "remixed songs".
more like all new structures using previously recorded material.
this.. I like.
As long as it's a ReMix album and not a covers album, I'll be happy. That track list does look crazy....makes me think of that song from one of the 12- 7" series where they just mixed 6 or 7 songs together.Really curious about 'Overgoat'.

Wow! Lee Ranaldo, Merzbow, EYE, and Sir DSS? Sounds like a noisy album. Matmos is a great choice. Can't wait to hear how bizarre this album is.
"Buzz Osborne and the gang presented each remixer with a full album to work with and pull from to create their track"
This sentence indicates that this album will be much more interesting than your typical remix album. I hope they list who remixed what albums in the liner notes.
There's an awful lot of noise artists invloved with this from that list.
Maybe it will rival Porn's 'And The devil makes three' for sheer
atonal insanity.

I think there will be a some tracks like that, but probably some more traditional remixes as well. Have you ever heard EYE do a remix? I've got an OOIOO remix 12" he did and it's very electrothrashy. I'm hoping he does something similar with this. Why didn't they give BigBiz a shot at it? They've clearly demonstrated with the BizBot Remixes that they're capable young fellers.
the remixes were done years ago, it just took a while to get a release date. but bizbot are very capable indeed...
i have heard eye's black dice remixes and quite liked it!
I am so happy this is finally going to come out! I'm particularly excited by the fact that Sunroof! is on there. Although he will just marmalize whatever he touches and make it sound exactly like Sunroof.
wow that tracklist is encouraging!

It's not Gabba.
OK so it's Gabba with a touch of Garage and UK Funky....big deal! It's still going to be a massive poop.
Nearly. Just without the Gabba and more Dub Step. =D>
What the friggin heck is Dub step? I've heard of Dub but not Dub step. Google here I come.
Stay there.
I mean, while you're there look up John Duncan.

Both great choices. The Maggot was my first ever Melvins album, so I'll always have a soft spot for it, although I think I'd pick Manky and See How Pretty, See How Smart over AMAZON. Eye Flys may as well be the first and last Melvins song, 'cause it doesn't get any better than that. The COD version is my favorite.

The COD version of Eye Flys is the heaviest thing on the planet. The guitar feedback before it drops is the most venomous guitar sound ever. It just doesn't come any Emo-er.
Manky is indeed pure gold. I love scaring the hell out of my neighbours with that insane bass in the intro.
My stereo is so powerful that the neighbours think a plane is coming in at 15 miles per hour for a crash landing when Manky starts.

The Wire magazine reviewed the album and I am going to type it out for you here goes:
"A Melvins remix album? Their own occasional flirtations with electronic noise aside, Melvins are fundamentally a heavy rock band, albeit a highly individualistic one, and should probably be left to exist as such. But clearly they believe otherwise.
If nothing else, the methodology is interesting: the post-Metal pranksters have recruited an impressive cast of guests, including Yamatsuka Eye, Merzbow, Christoph Heeman, Lee Ranaldo, Makoto Kawabata, Farmer's Manual and Matmos, among others, and given each an entire album, not just the usual single track, to work with. Some hew closer to the source material than others: Ranaldo's track splices three throbbing, hyper-aggressive songs together with only minimal tweaking, while Matmos grabs a snippet of bass and some distorted guitar and builds a glitchy techno track around them, winding up with something closer to David Bowie's "V-2 Schneider" than anything in the Melvins catalogue.
Surprisingly, Acid Mothers Temple guitarist Kawabata's contribution doesn't seem to have any guitars in it at all, and doesn't sound all that different from Merzbow's mix. Panacea's "Queen (electroclash remix)" does more or less what the title implies; he preserves Buzz Osborne's vocal and throws a big dance beat underneath. In so doing, it's one of the few tracks, along with Lee Ranaldo's and John Duncan's offerings - the latter of which basically loops a guitar riff and a thunderous Dale Crover drum pattern for five minutes - that retains much essential Melvins-ness. Ultimately this is an unnecessary album with a few interesting moments. The Melvins have released a bunch of those over the years, but this time, they've brought in outside help."
Sounds like one for the big fans to me. So...I cannot wait :D
Thanks for typing all that up!

OH YEAH!
Listening to the previews on Amazon right now. Hard to get a good idea of how this will flow. So far, I haven't heard much to get excited about. A couple of the re-mixes sound exactly like the originals. Re-mixing is a tough lot. How do you improve on a formula perfected by someone else?
I thought the Melvins had created new music and pushed it off to others to re-mix, but this is existing material? I'll probably buy it anyway, cause I'm a sucka, but I was a bit disappointed to discover this
This is going to be interesting. I was expecting something along the lines of the Electroretard stuff, not Melvins w/ dance beats. That being said, I'm still looking forward to being able to hear the full tracks. I can't imagine how cool it would be to have access to the master tapes and be able to seperate tracks and remix something. I'd love to have a stab at that.
yeah, it's hard to judge what this thing sounds like with only 15 second clips.
Quote from: kingnimrod on August 18, 2009, 10:49:51 AM
Also, it's hard to get a handle what these things really sound like because the mp3s sound so compressed--or maybe the remix album just sounds like it's all underwater.

I got talking to 2manydj's (who are fairly well known at the moment) after a show in Ireland and I had a melvins t-shirt on at the time so naturally we got talking about them. They said that they had heard the panacea remix of queen and were thinking about putting it into a few of their sets. I love the idea of a load of indie electro kids dancing and the next minute the melvins get blasted through the speakers.

Thats true but Panacea is pretty popular in Drum and Bass circles. All it really takes is for one big DJ to start playing one of the more dance sounding tracks in their sets and it could spread like wild fire (but most likely it won't)

How many times have y'all mentioned the Melvins to folks & they say "who, never heard of them"? a lot of these people on this album have small to medium cult followings & tour the world......I think they will generate more new recognition with C.S. than touring with Down....Half of the reviews on the album are sites and mags related more to DJs & dance music....I'm just sayin'.
Those samples sound promising, especially the V/VM and Speedranch tracks

That would be awesome if the Melvins broke onto the dance charts with that Panacea remix. Ipecac should do a white label 12" vinyl of that one for the clubs.

Playing for 20mins at their local nightclub before the REAL DJ comes on doesn't count as touring the world and having a cult following goofball.

sometimes just a faster, distorted version of techno. But genre schmenre of course.

Just based on the 15 second snippets, I can't help but
think this could have been better if they also had the
involvement of a few people like Jack Dangers, Aphex Twin,
Juan Maclean, Sly and Robbie, Richie Hawtin, Chris Carter,
Ralf and Florian, etc mixed in amongst the batch of skeev's
that they got. I will reserve judgement though, and of course
will gladly buy it to support the band.

Yeah. I'm writing a review. Should get it up early next week. Track by track might be kind of long, but I'll probably mention the more interesting tracks and the high profile mixers.
After one listen, its kind of a blur. Eye's sounds like a boredoms track (mostly drums) and david scott stone remixed the vocal droning track from prick
New bio from ipecac.com:
Remember, anything worth doing, is worth overdoing!
Well, it's 2009 and the seemingly tireless Melvins have yet ANOTHER record ready for release...
What is this, their 50th record?
Maybe?
Anyway, the "newest" Melvins release is called "CHICKEN SWITCH" and it's a "re-mix" record... of sorts...
Each of the artists on this thing were given an entire album to work with and pull things from, however none of them were given individual tracks from the albums! So the outcome HAD to be left of center from the "norm."
Some highlights from CHICKEN SWITCH:
As part of japanese noise/epic rock band Boredoms' 23 year mission, leader Eye Yamatsuka has done the impossible and made the drum circle cool for the first time, ever. Filthy hippies will have to find something else to do, which will predictably involve combining two lame sedentary "sports" into one.
Matmos famously lent their precision-sampling wizardry to Bjork. They took their name from the movie 'Barbarella' - featuring a nubile, scantily-clad Jane Fonda. Given their intense fondness for weird, sexy women, it's no wonder they were totally into working with the Melvins.
Lee Ranaldo has had a long solo career making quite pleasant warped midnight music. He's also in this band that you might have heard of called Sonic Youth.
Japanese NOISE GOD Merzbow is not the only guy to wrap 50 CDs of audio steel wool in a k
inky leather fetish boxset or release a cassette "packaged" in an automobile, but -- Wait. Yeah, he is.
Sunroof! is the more psychedelic, meditative alter-ego of Matthew Bower (Skullflower, Hototogisu, Total, etc.), who is responsible for upwards of 50% of tinnitus cases reported in England.
Kawabata Makoto, as leader/guitarist of the cultish Japanese band Acid Mothers Temple, has perfected the art of making rock music that sounds like freight trains. His remix lovingly recreates the Monon BL2 diesel locomotive (pulling an estimated 60 cars).
No one knows what Void Manes is. I think it has something to do with EVP -- it was on the CD after it was mastered, and we sure as hell weren't going to pay to do it over.
Sounds good to me!
For those who don't know:
The Melvins have been a band for over 25 years...
The Melvins have done a shit load of albums.... How many is a shit load? No one really knows.
The Melvins live in Los Angeles and it's understood in hip circles that the United States tilts left and anything covered in slime tends to slide straight out to California. If your sliding too fast when you slide into San Francisco you tend to glance off south and the real scum bags end up in Los Angeles where their skin dries into a Malibu Ken tan which most hipsters have to painstakingly remove with Easy Off oven cleaner.
We all love porn right? And with the intern
et we've all become totally bored with porn. Bored out of our minds with easy access day and night internet porn.
The Melvins have four members.
King Buzzo... Longest surviving and only original member left. When they get around to replacing him there will be no original members!
Dale Crover... Long standing drummer and part time guitar player. Dale likes his booze in a High Ball glass.
Jared Warren... Bass player, singer and part time drama geek. Jared also plays in the band Big Business.
Coady Willis... Drummer. Coady has a funny story about trying to play a gig in leather pants. Ask him, it's funny as shit! Coady also plays drums in Big Business.
So there you have it!
You can find other interesting bits and bobs about the Melvins on line and some of it is even true! Well, it's at least as true as what the band would tell you in person.
Love the descriptions. Hilarious stuff there.

Hey. I'm writing my review right now. I have an mp3 to post of the Queen remix. Does anyone know who or what Panacea is (apart from the Rush song)? Also, is there any specific track anyone wants to know about?

Panacea was a Greek goddess. I would like to know about the Merzbow remix, is it just noise over some elements from the tracks, or has he done more of a cut and paste style like he used to do years ago?

cut and paste I've listened to it a few times and have no idea where the source material is from. A couple parts, I recognize stuff, but can't decipher what its from in this form.
Just finished it. Should be here tomorrow along w/the Queen remix:

Perhaps, there was also the phony artwork and MixMag review as well.

Panacea is a drum&bass guy. The front page of themelvins.net has web links to info about these people. I'm curious about RLW, Speedranch, cristopher heeman, Void Manes, and John Duncan. Duncan has done some weird stuff according to his site.
I listened to the leak from a torrent via one of the streaming sites. . Doesn't match the amazon snippets, but maybe they used different parts? Probably just someone screwing with us.
i forgot that stuff was there.
duncan does a more straight-forward remix composed of the first song from lysol and the weird sounds between the two parts of let it all be.
rlw: indecipherable ambiance
speedranch: very eclectic/what you'd expect from speedranch/mostly early stuff
christopher hermen: straight-forward first track from honky with added textures
vode manes is really cool eclectic/noisy/electronic

Did it really leak yet? Or is it the fake leak that has been on torrent sites? I emailed with a reviewer who told me they were doing Internet only streams for reviewers instead of sending promo CDs. In that case, only the manufacturer or distributor could leak it at this point. The fake leak is pretty funny.

I got it from a pretty reputable blog, but it sounds nothing like what amazon has to preview and every song
sounds almost the same. If anyone has actually heard it, I wish they could confirm if it was real or not.
I love how what seem to be such incredibly crucial facts become completely irrelevant in...

kelis; milkshake... HA! :D
The leak is definitely a fake. The track thats meant to be Queen (electroclash remix) is actually a remix of eggnog but whoever made it done a much better job than Lee Ronaldo's pissy remix
The leak is really funny. I just want to know if the Melvins put this out to screw with people or if a bored Melvins fan made this. It seems like a bit of work went into it.
my hat is off to MELVINS for finally outwitting the DL bandits. I'll be curious to know if it reflects in record sales.

Managed to find it, seems alright so far. Tracks 1,2,4 are good, the third not so much (all I've listened to so far). Track 2 is the opening to 'They All Must Be Slaughtered' stretched out into a full song, 4 is Hung Bunny/Roman Dog Bird. If anyone would like to discuss the album my Soulseek name is MEATBALL 8)
Edit: Holy shit track 4 goes into the second part of 'Let It All Be', badass.

thanks, this sounds very promising Maar :P
ps:ordered my copy yesterday,i don't think i'll listen to the leak before
The biggest problem i see with it is the same as with the the covers album. A few people have done imteresting things with the songs, just like a few did interesting covers of songs. The rest of them are just satisfied with making the Melvins tracks into noise, which is indistiguishable from their (the remixers) normal output and kind of goes against the whole Melvins aesthetic.
The good remixes are damn good though.

Just checked my local record shop (as I was picking up Dopesmoker on vinyl) and made sure they set aside a Chickenswitch for me next week when they get them in. They already had some on order.
the fake track that has Kelis' Milkshake rap over top of the
looped guitar riff from Candy O is actually really catchy
queen is also one of the most songlike tracks on the album
This shit is as dumb as prick. Nice one Buzz!
maybe someday I could hear the real one.

just picked up Chickenswitch today, along with Chickenfoot(used) just to fuck with the person behind the counter. Only 4 songs into Chickenswitch so far and I am really liking it. It is not at all what I expected a remix to be; but then again I don't listen to remixes as a general rule. However, Chickenswitch is awesome
So far I've only listened to the first half, and it's pretty much exactly what I was expecting/dreading. Matmos' track is very well done and just not my thing. Lee Ranaldo's sounds sloppy and phoned in/didn't try. Eye and Merzbow are both fucking amazing at what they do, pleasantly surprised that they both incorporated a fair amount of rhythm on their tracks. I can see what Glen means about DSS' track, but at volume this track is a nice head massage and has some incredible overtones created by the layering of the same vocals over and over. The others didn't even make an impression worth noting.

listen closely. you'll hear a peep or 2 of COD on chicken switch.
I did hear them, that is what gave me the idea in the first place.

I think the remix artists did a shitty job.
I guess thats the best they could do...I mean how do you make some I.D.M. / Trance / Techno / Noise out of a band that plays real music?

This one will get less play time than COD for me. A couple tracks are pretty good, but nothing was really incredible.
Still haven't got this yet :x. The freaking new Om CD held up my order at CD Universe. I wanted them to ship together, but Om CD is backordered. I guess I should have Chicken Switch by Saturday. I should just cancel the Om CD now and get it from Drag City direct.
I've already remixed my own Melvins songs, who needs this album?
Resume:
1) Cut Lysol into real tracks
2) Removed "Noise" from Bootlicker, merged "Let it All Be"
3) Joined tracks and removed "Noise" from The Maggot
4) Slowed down the (A) Senile Animal record by 10%
5) Removed the gay intro to Magic Pig Detective off Stoner Witch

Well in the graphics industry as a final touch on an image people usually add more contrast/saturation to the image than normal to make it stand out.
So I wouldn't exactly be surprised in the music industry if they try and make records sounding more "punchy" by speeding it up a little bit.
Now go try the same thing on charmaramaracarrot.

Typically music is mastered as loud as it possibly can be so that it "stands out" when it comes on the radio. Pretty much all music is mastered this way now though, so nothing stands out. It also usually incorporates so much compression that the dynamics are completely gone.
I've never heard of anyone speeding the music up to make it stand out. Typically you wouldn't want to time compress a file since you'd be eliminating digital information at a rate that doesn't come out mathematically even to the sampling rate, so there would probably be some digital inconsistencies that may be audible. With tape if you sped it up you'd also be raising the pitch and change the key that all the music is in... That said I'm sure someone's tried both.

I'm quoting Buzz; half-joking.
Personally I think it would have been a good idea for a one-off bit of fun, rather than lasting 5 years.
on the song Over from the under dog, Girl & Boy Treatment what melvins song is that mixed with?
each time I have listened to Chicken Switch, the only thing it does for me is make me wish that the new Melvins studio album would get released sooner than the middle of 2010
I like the switch. I think it is interesting to try to find the melvins in there. What is amazing to me is the ability to take their music and make it sound completely different. It also has me listening to some original albums even more closely to see if I can identify anything. like a game. I also enjoy the music.

Yeah, I've heard of this. I've got a little program on my computer, MP3Gain, which levels all the volumes (non-permanent) and tries its best to remove the clipping. It's great on an when you have thousands of tracks because the volume on all of them is the same.
However with "speeding" up tracks, I really meant I wouldn't be surprised if they try and speed up those sharp, short, aggressive "punk" type songs on ASA, not your everyday pop album. And I guess a better analogy would've been a film editor and how they tend to speed cuts to make trailers more exciting etc...
All the songs where they threw in hip-hop samples in them are pretty funny (and awesome). Except "Overgoat", where the guy had no idea how to do it at all. Oh, and the song Yamatsuka Eye is pretty awesome. Everything else... what the fuck. It all sounds like shit I edited in Gold Wave when I was sixteen. Jesus, this is really bad.
Also, what's up with all the Big Business/Melvins hate?
This album is terrible. First time I am disapointed by a Melvins album. I'm glad I did'nt buy it.
But I remember saying that about Electro Retarded and its one of my favorite album, so I am sure in 6 month I will have another opinion on the chicken shit.

we never learn, do we? never has there been a melvins album i loved instantly. a few exceptions there, althought maybe it was the love for another journey down the path we all love, in the dark.
Chief Ten Beers approves of this album 8). It's different for sure. I skip around on it in the house. Good for listening on a late night drive. Interesting how some mixers used just the raw tracks, and others added "stuff" on top of it. I quite like the Lee Ranaldo "Eggnog" remix. I don't see how it's embarassing :?. Of course critics will say "I could have done that".
The "Queen" remix would be awesome to have played in a strip club.

lets just say that if he was the melvins bass player and this is what he came up with, he would have been kicked out by now.
Yes, nothing wrong with ripping on things every now and then. Everyone makes mistakes and as Lenny once said, it's the reason they put erasers on pencils.

I like it. but in comparison to the rest of the album I must say I am slightly taken back.
the rest of the album is like all new tracks created from multiple old tracks. lee ranaldo's remix is basically EGG NOG summarized in a 5 minute track. it just seems like I could have done the same thing and I'm not even a creative musician.
although I would not call in embarassing I would call it uninspired and uncreative in comparison to the rest of the album. and that hurts to say being a big lee ranaldo fan. I feel like maybe when lee heard the rest of the album he wished he could have taken a 2nd crack at his remix.

there's a chance sonic youth will be added to the atp line up.
if they will play there, and i see lee, i will ask him if he was satisfied with his remix, and if he was still satisfied after he heard the other remixes.
after that i will ask thurston moore why the hell the melvins didnt get mentioned in his GRUNGE book! :x :x :x
maybe i should just ask him which 3 songs are his favorite off eggnog.
never heard of gossip girl, the name sounds interesting,
did anyone get hungry listening to the beginning of track one? I was craving some simmering soup meself.
Must say that my favorite is the Melvins' own version of chicken switch heard live and in person in Baton Rouge, LA.
If anyone sees this offered up as a live recorded album, there's a switch for ya!
:)

I've got a feeling that one leak is fake, or has at least been messed with in some way. If not, the Merzbow remix starts going into Kelis 'Milkshake' :? Also, it isnt the version of Queen that the blog site put up.
Does anyone still have these songs?
