My favorite melvins album, though I feel Pigs is coming up close behind.

Obivously it doesnt rock like their older stuff, but its just as good if not better. Its weirder.

And yeha, kevin adds a shitload. How is any bassist ever gonna cover.

This is my favourite Melvins album, I love everything about it. The production sounds great, all the songs flow together, the slide bass adds this crazy element that I just love.

this is my first post as a new member. i have only recently become a fan of the melvins, due to some proselytizing by one of their hardcore fans. but i really love everything that i've heard, particularly eggnog, bullhead, colossus of destiny, and hostile ambient takeover. i write now because i want to tap this forum as a resource. i am writing a scholarly paper on hostile ambient takeover for a class in the analysis of popular music. what i need is any information related to this album. that is, production info, lyrics (i have already perused the lyrics page on this site, but i thought i might spark other members' interest), possible live recordings, transcriptions (if any), art info, and basically anything else about this album that ya'll can think of. if i can write a good paper, it might get published and open up a new venue for the well deserved appreciation of the melvins.

Here's some facts I found about H.A.T don't bother looking for sources, because I heard these all from Buzzo himself while I was smoking opium with him:

- Buzz doesn't really sing at all on it, Kevin does.
- Dale has sick while recording "The Fool, The Meddling Idiot" so they used a drum machine
- The whole album was recorded and mixed in two hours
- The Original title was going to be "Hog's Smelt"
- David Scott Stone never really did anything, either. Buzz just lost a bet to him, so he had to credit him for some stuff

I believe it Hog's Smelt, as in the Smelting of Hogs. It's an annual summer time white-trash fair type thing in Aberdeen where they get a bunch of hogs and smelts them. IT's sickeningly violent thing to do to hogs (or any other animal for that matter) but I am told buzzo quite enjoys it. Basically they pump a live hog full of ultra-high pressure water and superheated coke (as in coal) until it explodes in tasty pre-barbecued chunks. Delicious but disgusting. Buzzo is a sick fuck.
